Why is Zimbabwe so misrepresented? These top five richest neighborhoods look nicer than most of our top five in Nairobi (personal opinion). The city of Harare too looks the same or even better than Nairobi CBD. Again, looks can be deceiving but my perception is that Harare is one nice city.

Zambia is worse than Zimbabwe in terms of infrastructure and the people. Namibia has its advantage due to its unique landscape by the atlantic ocean on one side and nambia desert on the other side, as well its few population. But people have different tastes and likes. I just love the green space.. Love the fact the the zoning limits how tall the buildings can be, no taller than 3 storeys plus the tree's have to be taller than your building structure! Yes, Zimbabwe is super strict with zoning, planning permission and building standards. Not just in the top flight areas, across the board. They even do material inspection to ensure it meets the building code standards. The upside is that even if you're buying rather than building your own, you know you're getting a solid structure.

In Zim we love trees,hence when we build we always build around trees and never destroy them,we love our Jacaranda trees and they give some beautiful scenery.There is a road in Harare going to Mt Pleasant that is completely covered with Jaracaranda trees,so when driving you feel as if you are driving through a covered tunnel,the views are so stunning in that road. I lived for 30 years in and around Harare, growing up there and of course recognise some of the names mentioned, but my goodness, like everywhere, how things have changed. I can well remember occasionally riding my beloved horse "Mr.B" through the "Borrowdale Brook" area, when it was mostly just "smallholdings" (semi-agricultural/market-garden operations) with normal sized homes on larger acreage, usually about 5 acres upwards, or open undeveloped land..

Purple Jacaranda Trees everywhere..it used to be a Harare City Council policy that every resident should plant Jacaranda tree on their property for the aesthetics of the area....u get fined by council if u are seen cutting down trees without permission from the forestry Commission...u are allowed to cut trees if they are old and pose a danger to people...its still a policy to plant trees on your property (not necessarily Jacaranda).

Point of correction.Highlands area part of it is now a commercial zone and the minimum is 2 floors .There is what they call Enterprise Corridor and if your property is within its boundaries,new properties have to be double storey and upwards.Architect's view.

Most of the people are hard workers or had good jobs which paid well when things were still good and acquired those properties. they have nothing to do with politics..I'm not rich like them but I always try to see the good in people instead of painting everyone with the same brush..Some people in this difficult economy and hostile environment are working very hard until they make it. You are busy pointing fingers at others..what are you doing to improve yourself.. Remember in this life some people are just naturally blessed..zvinhu zvavo zvinoendeka..and some people nomatter how hard they work they are just stagnant.

I think in Zimbabwe we tend to have houses on larger plot sizes compared to a lot of other African countries I have been too. This is probably due to a range of factors such as that we like to stay at home a lot more, or maybe we just have larger division of residential land and etc, as compared to a country like South Africa were I've have noticed houses tend to be build on smaller land sizes. Having bought an apartment at Millenium Heights, am super excited with this development, emphasizing on live,work,shop and play all in one, it's turning out to be value for money. This Millenium Park which is overall name of the whole area covering Pokugara houses and Millenium Heights apartments, will indeed be a game changer. The way they proposing to protect the wetlands by adding more greenery to it will turn this area into a paradise. Wish I can keep buying into more and more of their developments.

When I saw the lovely garden flats in Hillside that I lived in they looked terrible compared to when new, with barbed wire and burglar bars covering the windows. Whites are the ones who speak ILL of zimbabwe . The Land issue did mess them up big time especially that they ( British/ Dutch) were so comfortable before 1980 . Bitterness is deep ,unfortunately for them the Land issue is irreversible . The European settlers that accepted change are still enjoying themselves (yes farming and other businesses ). Those who were stupid enough to resist change are parked in South Africa waiting for change .

The actual richest neighbourhoods in harare: no1 umwinsidale under borrowdale ward the average price of land one is allowed to purchase is 1 hectar the starting price for left overs smaller than 1 hectar is 300 000 USD for just 1000m2 . no2 a specific Part of Glen Lorne under borrowdale ward where makandiwa belt his 3000 sqm mansion on 2 hectares of land 5 acres of land. Starting price for a house belt there 1 million USD no3 a specific place in south of malbrough Cheapest house 900 000 USD. Everywhere else is just upper middle class especially all the places mentioned in this video I know he mentioned Glen Lorne but it's most of Glen Lorne is just upper middle class.

The cities are well planned and there's kinda of like a hierarchy in the use of land whereby it is zoned into 3 different areas ie. the high density areas (low income earners), medium density areas (medium income earners) and finally the low density areas where the affluent people reside. Of all the cities in Zimbabwe we have only 5 of them have areas for the rich. 1.Harare has 3 areas I mentioned 2.Bulawayo has 1 area 3.Mutare has 1 area 4.Mazvingo has 1 area 5.Gweru has 1 area.

@@ronakio My point is people confuse the upper middle class areas with rich areas a lot i live in greystone park borrowdale harare I don't see whats so affluent especially its a neighbourhood filled to the brim with lawyers, magistrates, physicians ..... etc . My point still standing firm Harare only has 3 wealthy neighbourhoods only that is umwinsidale, a specific Part of Glen Lorne where makindiwa belt his house and malbrough south . Comfortable middle class neighbourhood will be westgate, mt pleasant heights etc... Lower middle class would be alington , zimrepark etc...

Thats a lie everyward in Harare has a low density surbub even in mbare , mabvuku , glenview , mufakose wards...etc The Only wards that are strictly lowdensity is Borrowdale, Highlands, Mt pleasant, Malbrough, Mt humpden and avondale. The rest of the wards from Greendale, Eastlea, Mufakose have potion of highdensity to medium density and low density surbubs. In these wards like glenora , mabvuku etc ....Its just that low density surbubs located where i just mentioned are small they go unnoticed thats it .
