Toyota Camry hidden way to open the trunk.

There are several ways to open the trunk on a Camry. It seems that the most convenient way is the least known. 2018 2019 2020 2021 and 2022 Camrys are like this but others have the feature as well. It is not exclusive to these vehicles but these are the ones I chose to use. Also there is a key open on most on the left side opposite of the button. Also note that all smart key systems have this from what I can tell.

I locked my 2021 camry se keys in the trunk at the grocery. Mine doesn’t have it. I had to get my car towed to the dealership. My spare key was inside the glovebox and I didn’t know it. It was never told to me. It took a day and half to get my car unlocked.

I just did the same thing. Tried the front doors but the key was out of range. Tried to find the button but couldnt find it since toyotas website says it should be right above the license plate and I wasn't checking the ends.

I'm here right now because 2023 camry just discovered sitting in car as it's running, for example a stop light, someone can open your trunk using that button. Grab whats inside and be gone. My son and I went through numerous variables trying to determine how to lock it. Sometimes it won't open, sometimes it will. So i'm looking for a way to ensure its LOCKED when i need it to be locked.

Flip key you get key access, push start remote comes with push button because flip key doesn’t continuously send out signals to unlock doors and trunk button needs that signal to open

I also have an SE that doesn't have the button. My theory is that if you have push button start (which means no physical key, only the fob) then you get the button, but if you do have a physical key then you'll get the key hole on the left side of the trunk and that's how you open it manually.

I have a 2002 Toy Camry and was followed to a grocery store from the Apple store. Thieves broke my driver window but THANKS to the trunk lock safety feature, they didn’t get my new MBP or older desktop model. I won’t buy a 2025 Camry or keep anything of value in the trunk of the 2025 rental I’m currently driving.

I had a rental car with the flip key. Locked the keys in the trunk with my bag. Took 45 minutes to get a metal pole to hit the trunk hold open button - nothing happened at all. We got the door open and that still didn’t allow the button to work. The best part? There’s no access to drop the back seats from inside the car. After 2 hours, We had to literally pry the seat behind the driver and use a pole while FaceTiming a phone to pull the key to our hand. Shit design.

In a nutshell, any Camry with a smart fob will have the button. Camrys with a blade key won't have it.
