I had recently learned apparently an assault rifle is a select fire (single fire with auto/burst) rifle (might also have to be a medium sized cartridge but I don’t fully remember). That's it, No more or less efficient, it is made to shoot longer distances, that's what a rifle is for. In close range honestly handguns tend to be faster cause they are quicker to aim, due to being so short.

​@@sentienttaco9134you can shoot it as fast is your finger moves, but theres a lot more to it than that. Accurate shots take time. An ar isnt more efficient at everything. They are typically more compact for cqc, but can be a full 20". An sks is long, and fires a much stronger cartridge, while also being semi automatic. Most civilian ar-15s take after the miltary m4a1, which was built to be light and compact. 5.56 was chosen because a soldier can carry a lot more ammo, while still being effective. There are rifles that have a better shot at killing someone, they just tend to be heavier.

I just want to point out that you all are complaining about backstops and trigger discipline. #1 His finger was only on the trigger when it was pointed down range, anytime it wasn't down range his finger was completely off the gun not even on the guard. #2 His back stop was the actual bottom of that hill. Besides on private land that he's on there's probably not anything to worry about for at least a mile. #3 I can say he never actually flagged anyone, however he did walk down range (not in front of the rifle) but yes in the general direction of a load rifle.

Technically an AR-15 isn’t an assault rifle. It’s a semi-automatic rifle. To be considered an “assault rifle” it needs to have a switch between semi-automatic and fully automatic.

Steve-o I'm pretty sure you wont read this, but if by chance you do. An AR is no different from an other semi auto rifle. It just means that 1 trigger pull means 1 bullet fires. It isnt more powerful. AR 15 is usually chambered in 2.23 or 5.56. There way more powerful semi auto hunting rifles that are not seen as scary or controversial. That are chambered in 308, 30.06 338 so on and so forth. Stuff that is far larger and more powerful. But because its not painted black and doesnt have a rail for accessories its seen as some how less dangerous. 😅
