So what do you do if a team is running out of a Shotgun formation running outside zone runs and sweeps
@coachparker3 жыл бұрын
Are they in a Spread or just shotgun. Do they pass much? I would need to know more.
@AAYFN3 жыл бұрын
@@coachparker no just shot gun no spread but 10% pass. I also have another question can an I-formation with a good lead blocker run towards the outside zone how do you defend that from a 62 defense
@AAYFN3 жыл бұрын
@@coachparker lost a game this last weekend from that situation on the last 2 drives
@coachparker3 жыл бұрын
@@AAYFN sorry to hear that.
@coachparker3 жыл бұрын
@@AAYFN Your DLM must get Penetration. If you are running the Multi 62 you can move into a Double Wide with DLM in BC gaps. DE must keep contain. CB must help along with LB flowing inside out and Safety. You need to beat the blockers at LOS.

Hey coach how would you stop the dead t? We gor shredded up the gut by running traps, with the occasional short pass and sweep.
@coachparker4 жыл бұрын
The T is a power running formation - I will use a 70 defense or stack LBs against a tough power running team to try to bring down blockers at the LOS with the dline. On traps, they are tough, if up against a trapping team the dline cannot over penetrate since they want that to occur. here's an article on playing the trap - joedanielfootball.com/how-to-wrong-arm-a-trap-block/

In 43, is will always on in coverage or does it depend on the which side of the field the trips is on?
@coachparker6 жыл бұрын
Rover is moving with Trips, Will in this video is pretty much in coverage.
@grantunionrams86846 жыл бұрын
What formation would you shift to against a 5 wide spread? Also, an opponent ran a “Trips Bunch” and completely took sam/will out of the game. Any ideas for adjustments I can possibly make?
@coachparker6 жыл бұрын
For a five wide Spread hopefully we saw that on film and dealt with it based on the Offense and personnel. Do they pass out of the bunch or run or both. Your scouting should tell you how to adjust. We usually Jam middle reciever and have outside and inside leverage. BUt really depends on how they use the bunch or spread. many times in youth football their are only one or two receivers that can catch the football all others are decoys.

Stephen Parker They run Jet sweep, QB Draw and a quick hitch pass to slot WR. Also, what are they splits for oline? Thanks bud, I learned so much about coaching just from watching all of you vids. And I mean ALL lol 😎
@coachparker6 жыл бұрын
I would Jam the Slot Hitch and have a OLB or CB attack the Jet back and have Mike and Dline watch for the Draw. Against a team like this that has a weird 5 wide a specific bunch we will set up a custom defensive set for this formation and lok for keys to the individual keys. We just did two last season we called Steel Curtain for the Steelers and Tomahawk for the Seminoles team.

My oline splits are usually zero to one foot depending on skill of linemen. Guards a usually less than 6 inches. I will sometimes nasty split a tight end at 3 foot.

Stephen Parker Thank you coach. Also here in California the quick hitch pass (Sort of like a naked WR screen) works great especially at the lower levels. This is my first year coaching and I plan on recording all of our games and I would love to upload them to you. I would buy a book right now I am financially unable because I have paid for about six players who can’t afford to play this year. Practice begins July 31, first game 9-1-18. Our league is called AYF Norcal and we are the Mighty Grant Union Rams.

Is your GAP8 a true GAP8 or is it like Reed's GAM?
@coachparker6 жыл бұрын
It is not Reeds GAM, I do not like the GAM too much, too easy to get to wide side of field with GAM in my opinion
@byronmcmullen55996 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why you say 6-2 is weak vs pass. If the kids read pass, then they play pass, else they play run.
@coachparker6 жыл бұрын
It is weaker than maybe a 5-2 or a 4-3 defense. Kids reading pass or run is maybe a tad simplified in my opinion. I want to set my players up in the best position to make plays and I can do that with formation shifts, stunts, adjustments schemes. etc. Yes, the 62 is pretty good against pass until about 11 years old when real passers take the field and can chop it up.
@byronmcmullen55996 жыл бұрын
Ok. A base 6-2 is weaker vs down field passing than a normal 4-3 by virtue of there being more defenders at the second level. Sure I get that. However, who does that?! The 6-2 we run has gap and coverage responsibilities attached to it as all D's should. So if a offense wants to come out in 5 wide, we know how to align against it based on rule. They come out compressed into a double tight power formation, we know how to align on it by rule. However 5-3, 4-3, 3-3-5 or anything else, should morph to align on the offense's strength so in effect you end up with the nearly the same result which is every gap and receiver accounted for. Then it comes down to execution. As far as great passers, there's not a whole lot you can do if they are dead eye other than pressure them and cover the receivers.
@coachparker6 жыл бұрын
Yes, we can do the same or make it easier and have calls to help them make some adjustments quicker or have them ready pre-game for a certain team. We shift and morph into these different formations. I have calls for it and it works. Thanks for your comments.
