How do you adjust the w(de) if they bring that wr down to a single wing. Does he line up 3 yards outside wing and blitz behind the wing and go 2 yards deeper than Tail back
@coachparker2 жыл бұрын
Usually against a SW we will run our DEs tighter and just box up over the Wing and have the CB take on more contain responsibility. We may even move into a 70 defense and shift to wing.

Hey coach. We advanced to next round of the playoffs to play the team we lost to the week before. One back beat us. It was pretty embarrassing knowing the great team I have. What would you suggest on shutting pretty much a one man team down? There line is pretty good. They run him from I formation and a pistol direct snap at times. I didn't run the 6 last week because I knew we were going to overwhelm this team with just our talent we have. Thanks coach for your help. I will be emphasizing the 6-2 more this week.

If its a one man team, then make sure everyone keys the "rabbit" the best rb. Have everyone on your defense on each play find the Rabbit by pointing at him. This makes sure everyone knows who to tackle and also makes the RB - Rabbit know your defense knows him. Make sure you LBs are always reading the rabbit and your DEs/OLBs are too. You can have Fred spy the rabbit or one of your iLBs.

Stephen Parker thank you very much. We win this one and we advance to the final. I shouldn't have to motivate my team for this one. They want this one bad. I appreciate your help coach and thanks for replying to me quickly. I'll let you know how it goes. I feel good going into this match up.

Do you cover 6-2 vs shotgun? Spread type teams
@coachparker6 жыл бұрын
In my 62x8 defense we shift into a 5-3 / 5-2 or 4-3 from the 62 to cover spread teams based on passing efficiency. Easy adjustments. We first drop/sub one of the two NGs into a LB = 53. Then a LB to SS = 52 or we can drop both DEs to OLBs and have our DTs play more contain since TEs are now Split Ends with two d-guards in middle.

What drills do you use to teach the assignments? 8u team.
@coachparker6 жыл бұрын
take a look here... Contain Pod is a big one. We also do a ton of walk thrus to target for assignments and alignments. We will teach wide and short by setting up field so they can see and have players adjust. for strong we usually have the LBs count overloaded LM along with the DTs to recognize the two power OTs in front of them.

How do you teach the kids weak side/ strong side? 62 right/left?
@coachparker6 жыл бұрын
We teach Wide and Short side. I will usually call strong or weak from the sidelines. But we also teach the LBs to see an overshift. Usually in scout film we have determined how we will adjust based on a key. You might want to think about buying the 62x8 defensive book over at coachparker.org/youth-football-playbooks-store/

Hey coach quick question. can you run this against the single wing and wishbone offenses?
@coachparker7 жыл бұрын
Yep, this defense is a multi defense and has many adjustments to defend against many offensive formations. The biggest thing to defend against is the opponents top 5 plays. Make your def adjustments based on these top plays whatever the formation. Thanks for your question.

Running stunts in this defense will shut teams down.

I always kept my OLB 6yds off of the DEs and 2 1/2 yds off the line of scrimmage.

But what defense are you running, who has contain responsibility DEs or OLBs? What age group?
