We need to know the identity of the person, lawmaker, or organization that introduced such a bill. This will give us an idea of what their thoughts and intentions are. It is necessary to find out the reasons behind this, whether it is due to discriminatory bashing against Japan like in the 1980s and 1940s, or whether they are seeking some kind of profit.
If the kei truck starts to sell in large numbers, they have the risk of eventually eating into the American pickup truck market (on-farm use utility vehicle). They want to eliminate the possibility. In the really big picture, this is the same as how the American public transit (train )was eliminated.
Please write to the ambassador of Japan in D.C. about this issue. He only looks at Tokyo, WH and the capitol, so he doesn’t become aware about this kind of silent Japan bashing!
America has tendency to restrict how Japanese products are handled in subtle way. You can see that in many things including how entertainments are created even though it’s a rough copy of Japanese production from years ago. It’s like half way handcuffing.
If all else fail, there still is Canada (no sign of outawing Kei yet up here)

I think the intention to ban light cars is due to pressure from manufacturers who are stopping the purchase of Japanese light cars even though American cars are not selling well.I think the US should just make small 1000cc trucks.

If it's a truck used for agriculture, it should be able to cross mountain roads if it's made with an engine that emphasizes torque rather than power. If light cars are to be banned, I think it would be a good idea to request manufacturers to make small cars.Light cars, which are not available in America, are popular. If that's the case, they should just make American-made small cars.

There's absolutely no way this is true, plain and simple. First of all, the number of kei cars being imported is incredibly small, especially relative to the total number of car sales annually. Secondly, there is very little demand for small cars in the US. The demand for Kei cars is mostly from enthusiasts. Honda didn't even bother trying to sell the E here because the car was deemed "too small" for the American market. There is no evidence to support a conspiracy. If that were true, it wouldn't be happening in a handful of states only. The whole "big auto is blocking Kei cars" is speculative at best.

@@lookitskazzy Yes, it's speculation I think motorcycles are even more dangerous if light vehicles don't meet the state's safety standards. I think it's only natural that conspiracy theories from manufacturers would emerge.
