Hi Steve, just come across your video, I have to say what a lot of fabulous plants you have growing. How you keep up with that lot is beyond me. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for doing this one.

8 years of practice Linda and being retired I have the time, it takes me about 10 hours a week to keep the garden and allotment in good condition, 3 hours of that is harvesting : All the best - Steve

Hi, Steve. I grow Sungold every year outside. They split like mad but I love them anyway. I think you grow them under glass and I am curious. Does that stop them splitting?
@SteveRichards5 ай бұрын
I mostly grow Honeycomb now, just as good as Sungold but they split a lot less. I'm only growing sungold for the garden, for eating fresh off the plants and where I can keep them consistently damp, which I can't do on the allotment and because I was kindly sent the seeds for free : All the best - Steve

Yes, just one, the tomatoes have completely filled the baskets now and are hanging over the sides.

A lovely simple selection this year Steve, I might be able to follow some...lol I will be doing thr Sweet Dumpling again thogh they didnt produce as well as hoped. I did neglect the feeding though. I will do Jack be Little and Crown Prince again but my favourite have become Spaghetti squash. You must experiment with a couple they are so much fun. I found a smaller variety ( i think it was Thomson and Morgan) karen will love them in the kitchen..just roast whole, cut in half drain and tip on a goof pasta sauce parnesan...a delight.

Hi Steve, Can you please tell me where you got your hanging basket for your tumbling tomatoes from. I cannot find in your shop.
@SteveRichards5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately they are no longer available Darren, but if you search for baskets at least 6.5 litres they should be suitable : All the best - Steve

Harvested my first (baby) potatoes over Easter - just enough for dinner for two! Looking forward to harvesting one tub a week from now on, even if it’s only enough for one meal, fresh is SO much better! My tub carrots (sown last year) are coming on well but still too baby for harvesting. Everything else is behind due to focussing on getting the new potting shed done, but that’s up and running now and seedling production is going really well. I’m trying out lots of new varieties this year as I’ve got extra growing space. 😊 Prepped my carrot and parsnip beds at the weekend and will hopefully get those sown soon.

I'm still on last years potatoes and carrots, they're not great, but they're not bad either and I don't like to waste them. I'm content knowing that when I do harvest the carrots and potatoes they will be a good size. Everything growing outside is miles behind, due to the weather, everything under cover is great : All the best - Steve

I'm finding that the Stickle weed is ripe for harvesting now along with that annoying vine that gets everywhere.

Mine are both doing very well too, together with some very nice stinging netles and an exceptional crop of chickweed.

Hi Steve I’m interested in the Salanova lettuces and wondered how yours are getting on and if you have tasted them yet or is it the first time you’ve grown them thanks Fiona
@SteveRichards6 ай бұрын
I’ve grown lots of them, some I grow because of their ornamental beauty and they taste ok. Others have a great texture and an ok taste. I mainly like them because of the size of the harvest, hundreds of uniform leaves from a single plant. Because the taste is reasonable, I use them for about 30% of a salad mix and my favourite lettuces for the remaining 70%.

Lots to be getting on with, I feel like I'm ahead so far this year, although I'm a little behind on my lettuce not had great gemination on it. So have ordered some new once. Hoping that will help
@SteveRichards6 ай бұрын
if you've had them in the greenhouse it's probably been too warm, they like to germinate below 21c : All the best - Steve

@SteveRichards6 ай бұрын
once they've germinated they will be fine in the greenhouse though, so just germinate in a cool spot in the house and then prick out and move to the greenhouse : All the best - Steve
