This troubled rescue pony is terrified of new people! Can he be trimmed!? It's time to trim this troubled rescue pony, He's terrified of farriers and new people and has become too dangerous to sedate sufficiently to be safely trimmed. After Steve's first visit a while ago today 'Dan' the farrier comes to try his best.

Steve is a master. He's dedicated his life to years of research, training, and experience handling horses, and he's extremely talented too. Seems some owners have a hard time recognizing that he is far more knowledgeable and skilled with horses than they will ever be. His success with their horse is not just good luck. It's Steve's genius at work.

Love the patience you have with these horses. I've watch one other trainer who uses some of your techniques and is good. However his patience is just not the same. ❤ I live in the US and my son and his family live in NC. Enjoy your trip here. Curious as to watch your thoughts are about the Horses that paniced at Horse Guards. IMO they had a lot of stress from all the protests that week. Because they had trouble with a lot of the horse quitting that week.

It's very odd how some owners make random excuses for why the horse is getting better, more relaxed and in a listening mode, instead of acknowledging the perfect timing and expertise of the person, Steve in this video, that is working with their horse ! If they think it is so easy, why have they not worked with their own horse ? People are so strange.

How many times have we seen Steve eventually get a halter on that’s the wrong size and he has to do it all over again? How don’t owners know what size is needed? Makes you wonder if that’s happened in the past and added to the horses problem. Well done Steve for being so patient with owners and so calm and understanding with the horses.

Always a joy watching your VLOG’s especially when Dan joins you. Hope you have a safe trip to and from the US. Also, I pray that you have a rather large audience. Thanks for sharing! These rescues need to go to people who can ground work them with the tender, understanding that Steve shows. They are obviously not groomed daily and I think that would help. Grooming is not for them just looking good but it’s for feeling good and a bonding that happens with handling. Tango is a young, strong pony who would make a wonderful, companion or ride for someone. Love the two rescuers but maybe they need to know when to give the ponies to people who are younger, fitter and can spend the time, I think Tango remembered you Steve and looked soft in the eye quite quickly. Well done. Dan too. You are a wonderful blacksmith. Thanks team.

As bad as her back is, that lady is VERY brave to still be around horses, especially ones like Tango! You can see it would only take an unexpected nudge or bump from a horse to knock her over! I too have a balance issue, no pain though; and I like to imagine I'd be able to still deal with horses.....but watching the difference between an able bodied person work around a horse, and someone without that solid stability; I realize I will be much safer staying with Steve Young video watching!! I hope I manage to take everything I learn from these videos into my next incarnation so I can successfully be with beautiful horses again. I miss them now, it's been 30 years without...☹

I can't help thinking that the best situation for this particular horse would be somewhere that he is handled daily, perhaps even twice daily, for the foreseeable future. Go through all of Steve's groundwork every day. I love that these people have rescued all these poor animals, but this one in particular needs more than just a safe space and I think that is more than they can provide.

Watching your videos I’ve quite often I hear you say with the horses something like this :- from breakdowns comes breakthroughs. the same can be said for riders also, I’ve just started riding again after a many years long break due to an incident that scared the life out of me and weakened my back. My second ride back off lead and something happened the triggered the events that led up to the incident and the incident itself, I had a breakdown which was the fault of no one (luckily for me the horses I was riding is amazing and just stood perfectly still during this) and minutes later came the breakthrough for me. I’m proud to say I kept riding that day with your words playing in my mind ❤ thank you for theses amazing videos

I didn’t realize I was creating a monster and I’m controlling his feet. He’s in shock at the moment. He’s still testing the waters, but massive improvement in me being the leader. We had a mountain lion scare and I coddled him afterwards…. probably biggest mistake I ever made with a horse. Oh well, live and learn. Funny, until you mentioned the sniffing I hadn't even noticed it.😄 I noticed there was quite a bit of difference between the owner's approach to the horse & Steve's approach. He showed complete confidence & dominance, whereas the owner appeared much more timid & cautious or fearful. I'm sure the horse picked up on it as well. At least his behavior in each circumstance gave that impression.
