I appreciate her honesty and applaud her for getting the help she needed. The first step is admitting you have a problem, the second is doing something about.

As a rehabilitated non relapse heroine addict who’s gone through prescribed medication similar to Stevie’s back in 1993 I totally get what Stevie talks about and why she educates anyone who is willing to listen.

Yes at 63 now - she still is a beautiful and successful rock star!!! I just saw her last month in Houston and she was incredible!! I think the doctor who put her on Klonopin was in it for the money only, knowing she had an addictive personality - I have been taking it for panic attacks and it does make you gain weight if you let it - when you get older you need to watch what you eat and exercise daily - Klonopin is very helpful to people like myself who have severe panic disorder.

Thank God she is clean and sober ! May her truth be a lesson to many and know that not every physician or psychiatrist has their patients best interest at heart. She should have NEVER been prescribed ANY type of psychotropic drug/pharmaceutical to be the main cure for her addiction ! While I have never had a SUD, I do have empathy for anyone who is seriously trying to seek professional assistance for their SUD/mental health issues. Finding a fantastic therapist/counselor who initially incorporates MI/CBT/other therapy first, then possibly some form of psychotropic medication second (short term) may be difficult, but they are out there ! - Jen Gable (Justeson)

You obviously don't understand addiction or why people use medication for psychological disorders. What you feel may be a lot easier to cope with than others. Of course it is sad, drug use, but what is worse is the lives some lead haunted and tortured by psychic intensity as bad for human health to suffer from as one who is seriously drug addicted. Id be dead without the drugs Stevie used. They are for illness and I am not a sad person for seeking treatment and wanting to live a life of peace.

It depends on the individual, their genetic back round. I have taken it for 6 weeks,2 mg daily and had no horrific trouble stopping within 10 days of proper tapering. Stevie misused the highly potent benzo and ended up with a problem she, I am happy to see has dealt with like a pro. Seizure disorder with on and off migraines are why I used and still use it,and use it responsibly.

Good point. Some of these drugs are dangerous and have to be used as rx'd. Either she wss taking more than what the rx called for or..the dose was too high and she should have right away questioned that or got off it.
@mattmammone2338
@mattmammone2338 4 жыл бұрын
@@Gypsygirl9 Indeed, Klonopin is so potent many doctors don't understand. For example, Valium. Comes in 2 mg 5 mg and 10 mg tablets and breaks down and metabolites re enter the bloodstream and can last for days. They MDs think the new drugs are safer. Well, my doc was one and was like Valium OMG I'm only giving you a 2mg a day script if you agree with me to change meds. I asked if I could add a third MG of Klonopin as needed for midnight awakening or emergencies. He was fine with that. I told him "you know if you gave me Valium the equivalent dose would be 20 mg for each mg of Klonopin." he was baffled and I explained it to him, 1 and 10 are relative to drug potency blah blah. And then I had to pay HIM, an Ivy league graduate who just got schooled on benzos and I'm a drag queen in SoHo NY... pfft I read too... AND can do my own makeup and help cover up the new drag kids pimples at the same time.

@scottreno40 You also have to consider that this may not even include the drugs others gave to her. Drugs were everywhere, and Stevie being beautiful and famous, probably had stuff handed to her the second she entered a room. Mick Fleetwood said he was responsible for procuring drugs for FM (likely his roadies, etc. got them). I have a LOT of respect for Stevie. The detox from Klonopin was excruciating. That is a pain nobody wants, so head her warnings! Thank God she cleaned up.

Stevie might not have her own babies, but I have a beautiful mini golden doodle whose name is Stevie. My Stevie loves listening to Stevie Nick's. The only thing she doesn't like is being left at home while I go to every concert she has that is anywhere in my surrounding areas. My husband and I just love Stevie Nick's so much that we knew as soon as we got a dog her name would be Stevie.

I know this is an old interview and I haven't followed her beyond this time frame but I'm glad she kicked the habit and got off the drugs. **** Sorry for the loooong post but this subject really pisses me off **** Having said that, if you take these types of prescription meds the way they're supposed to they're normally extremely effective but people always fuck it up by overdoing it and using it as just another method to get high. People who do this fuck it up for those of us who take our meds like we're supposed to. I have to take Oxycontin and it at least gives me some relief, but because of drug addicts I have to bring my medicines with me to my doctor every single month to prove my innocence, like I'm some criminal junkie whose abusing the medicine which *I'm* paying for to begin with. The scrutiny I go through even by my pharmacist is unbelievable, and two pharmacists outright refused to fill my prescription for this medicine and won't even give you the reason for being an asshole towards you . . . and all because some people abuse their meds. So the rest of us who take it the way we're supposed to get treated like dirtbag junkies and have to prove our innocence every month to the doctor. And now they wanna stop making this particular medicine because some people tend to abuse it . . . never-fucking-mind those of us who it actually HELPS and those who don't abuse it. No, lets stop making it in favor of those who fuck it up for everybody. People who pass judgement on those of us who have to take these meds don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Just because the medicine didn't work for you you think everybody's bodies react the same way to these meds. A lot of us are helped by these medicines but the key is taking them the way they are prescribed, and even then you still have be honest with your doctor and TALK to them about what it's doing to you in every regard but to just say that "nobody" should take these meds is extremely arrogant because it *DOES* help a LOT people in the world but only **IF** you take it as prescribed. I've got maybe a year or two to live as it is (if that long) so it really bugs the shit outta me that I and those like me get treated this way merely because some people don't use their meds the right way, so the rest of us have to suffer for their bullshit. It's pisses me off just typing this because when the time comes that the one and only medicine that helps me isn't available anymore I'll take myself out because I can't even begin to handle the pain that goes with my disease. All this because *SOME* people abuse their medicine so they sentence the rest of us to death in favor of people who actually have a choice in life. Whatever.

The Doctors give you that to “help” you with the pain of awful withdrawals. So, you wind up going from one awful thing to another. Here I thought I just needed Xanax “for awhile,” and it is some NASTY stuff to come off of. WHO would have thought right? THEY (the Doctors) NEVER told me it was habit forming or that I would have “withdrawals” when I came off it. Horrible. NEVER again.
