Biz, You NEED to see, "Rhiannon" Midnight Special 1976 performance!!! Stevie goes OFF in that one and all 5 members of Fleetwood Mac shine.... PLEASE try to do it ASAP!! You WON'T regret it!!! And I will ....... EAT MY WORDS if you don't agree!!! ;) ;) EDIT: As far as the Stevie/Gwen Stefani comparison.... I see similarities for SURE so, I get where you're coming from. I ADORE Gwen as well, but I'm not ready to say she's the "Stevie" of the '90's. I don't think anyone could EVER come close to Stevie (aka: "White Witch"). She's ethereal.... basically the female equivalent to Robert Plant. They aren't just Legends, they are "GODS" in the Rock world.... nothing can beat that! IMO.... **** In NO way, am I saying that Fleetwood Mac as a whole is "GOD" status. But, Stevie.... YES!! As further proof of that, Stevie Nicks is the ONLY woman to EVER be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame TWICE!!! Once with Fleetwood Mac and once for her Solo career...... That screams "GOD" status to me..... :)
@Pathfinder1973 жыл бұрын
Truth! Though I think Tina Turner and Carole King very recently joined her as the only other women inducted into the RRHoF twice. Stevie was also the only member of FM on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest songwriters of All Time. That Rhiannon performance on The Midnight Special was epic. Another live Stevie FM performance worth checking out is Sisters of the Moon from the Mirage tour in '82 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmLOd2h-qLqqbpY). A whole lot of band and personal drama seems to play out there but Stevie gives a powerful performance and at one point essentially scats, sings in tongues or just sings the lyrics too fast for mere human ears to follow, but she never misses a beat and then just twirls away. And Stevie singing The Wild Heart backstage at a photo shoot in '81 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWPVgJtsmaiql9E) is essential viewing for any Stevie fan - new or old.

Stevie Nicks was the first woman rocker who let her really feminine side show and still wanted to rock like the boys. And she succeeded, despite a lot of men who were threatened by that. She's one of -- if not the only -- major rock stars who has had a long-term successful career in a band as well as a thriving solo career. Even Mick Jagger failed at that.

Stevie was writting so many songs that Fleetwood Mac could not incorporate them into their act. She had to go out on her own to sing them.
@verribarry3 жыл бұрын
According to Nicks, the title came from a conversation she had with Tom Petty'ss first wife, Jane, about the couple's first meeting. Jane said they met "at the age of seventeen", but Jane's strong southern accent made it sound like "edge of seventeen" to Nicks. She liked the sound of the phrase so much that she told Jane she would write a song for it and give her credit for the inspiration

Yes, she is worth it!! 👍🏽 Stevie blew up while still a part of Fleetwood Mac!! Mick Fleetwood is playing drums in this video!! No one could hold her back. She's a gift, a treasure to us all, and FM knew it. Lindsey brought her in as Buckingham Nick's, he wouldn't go without her. Then working with her Mick was enamored, McVies were in awe. That's my take!! Stevie is a Goddess. The only 2 time female RnR hall of Fame inductee, massive creative and master writer. I think I get what you mean about the Stevie/Gwen comparison. You can't compare voices (Stevie wins, hands down), but there is something about them. Nice, this is the best version of this song, better than the album version even. It's about the death of her uncle, and the death of John Lennon, whom she admired. As a huge Stevie fan, I have a page full of suggestions, but the condensed version is "Stand Back", "I Can't Wait" (extended rock mix), "Nightbird", "Beauty And The Beast", "I Sing For The Things", "Sorcerer", "Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream)", "Planets Of The Universe", and a duet she did with Kenny Loggins "Whenever I Call You Friend".

She has several duets worth checking out. When you go back to Fleetwood Mac, play a song or two where Christine sings lead, like Say You Love Me, You Make Loving Fun, Over My Head, or Don't Stop. All were huge hits for the band. I'm not that familiar with Gwen Stefani. My honest take on it is that Gwen is a star, but Stevie is a legend.

Man there's soooo much to do by Stevie Nicks! If there's such a thing as a girl crush, I've had one for her my entire life! I remember the first time I saw her. I don't remember how she was on TV but I was skipping school and got lucky enough to see whatever it was...I don't even know if we had VCR's yet, but I wanted to dress like her and wear my hair like her, I wanted to be her! You should go back to before they were with Fleetwood Mac. Her and Lindsey Buckingham have an album called Buckingham Nicks. Not a song on it that album that I don't love! I honestly don't know anything by Gwen, but that's cause I am a 70s hippie chick. I'm sure she's good, I just don't know.
