Stevie was alone with her uncle in the hospital when he passed away. She is the only female to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame twice. STAND BACK from 1983 features Prince on keyboards, it's a good song and video.

Prince actually helped her with "stand Back"and he didn't want any credit for it - He did this as a gift for her because he always admired her and her talent.

@@WandaCasamento59 hey Wanda, Stevie wrote the lyrics to Stand Back after hearing Little Red Corvette by Prince. she was in the studio finishing up the song, when she called Prince and told him how his song inspired her to write Stand Back, and then she invited him to the studio and he listened to the song once, then played his keyboard parts on it and that was it. she offered him songwriting credit and he said no. that's the story she told on an interview when the song was new. i've seen Stevie/Fleetwood Mac over 50 times and i met her once.

To give you a little backstory on this song. Stevie attended a show by the British band The Police and was really taken by a song of theirs called "Bring on the night" so after the show was over, she approached the band's guitarist Andy Summers with the request if he could teach it to her. Summers, being the cool guy he is, went "Sure" showed her the chords and the key changes. Stevie went home, put her own spin on the riff and the chords and "Edge of seventeen" came to be. Fast forward 20 years, Destiny's Child were in the studio recording a song called "Bootylicious" which samples "Edge of Seventeen" of course that meant that they had to ask for permission from Stevie Nicks. Nicks, proving herself to be an ultra cool girl, not only gave them permission but also appears in the video. Look at the blonde woman with the guitar, that's Stevie Nicks.

I love Stevie Nicks' influence on latter-day Fleetwood Mac, but Peter Green was the heart of that group, and an irreplaceable voice of an era. Green Manalishi and Oh Well ( full version ) are very different to what's considered the Mac sound these days, but are arguably more powerful works of artistic expression

I have been very close to death before due to illness. Like close enough they asked if I wanted last rites. Now I know this is going to sound so cliche but you do feel oddly at peace with the whole situation. Its very hard to explain. Its unlike anything you will ever feel. You do feel at ease. There was no panic or desperate feeling. I was sad but strangely you feel like you have excepted what was to come. At least that was my experience. Now obviously I didnt die. The Doctors had no explanation on why I did not other than it just wasnt my time. Now I will say I had been battle illness for years and I had excepted that death was a propbable outcome but a part of me in the back of my mind had refused to go without a fight and fight I did. I often tell myself that I willed myself to live. The brain is very powerful organ in your body. Never under estimate what it can do. We have a very short time on the earth people. The things I value most in life have changed since that experience and believe it or not its the little things that are most important. Little things that bring you joy, the smell of a beautiful spring morning, the sound of a baby's laughter you know that belly laugh they have. birds chirping, that smell after a good rain. I know it all sounds so cliche but that is what is truly valuable in life. Make the most of it while you are here because no one gets off this rock alive.

N_Nate138th , yes agree, I was also minutes from death and felt no fear or anxiety. I had clarity and peace, not that you want to leave the world, but it’s not something I fear any more. Also was a nurse for 30 years and have never witnessed any one scared at the end of their lives.

Wiki - Background and inspiration[edit] According to Nicks, the title came from a conversation she had with Tom Petty's first wife, Jane, about the couple's first meeting. Jane said they met "at the age of seventeen", but her strong Southern accent made it sound like "edge of seventeen" to Nicks. She liked the sound of the phrase so much that she told Jane she would write a song for it and give her credit for the inspiration.[3] Although Nicks had originally planned to use the title for a song about Tom and Jane Petty,[4] the death of her uncle Jonathan and the death of John Lennon during the same week of December 1980 inspired a new song for which Nicks used the title. Nicks' producer and lover Jimmy Iovine was a close friend of Lennon, and Nicks felt helpless to comfort him. Soon after, Nicks flew home to Phoenix, Arizona, to be with her uncle Jonathan, who was dying of cancer. She remained with her uncle and his family until his death.[5]

You seem to be picking my favourite tracks, and I'm not 40 yet! Agreed that no one wants to die, and even some of us know roughly when we are going to die. But some of us are ready for the inevitable. It now shocks me a bit that most 'normal' people rarely ever think about their own passing. I never Ever did until I was diagnosed, now I have readied and prepared. Do me a favor if you want some really emotional and heart touching tracks. Look up "Townes Van Zandt" and his amazing works of audio art. Songs like- 'Nothin', 'Waiting Around To die', 'Lungs', or any of his songs. An amazing talent who I see as one of America's unsung heroes. Love your work and Thankyou for all your hard work from Australia via UK 💚

Ohhh man, India! That must be sooo hard to put in all that work only to have the songs blocked. That sucks. Thank you for sticking with us. :-) I feel like artists music should be allowed to be played on these react videos because it just gets their music played more. Regarding Stevie Nicks. She was/is still the lead singer for Fleetwood Mac but she also had a solo career that spanned decades as well. She's been going back and forth between FM and her solo work almost her whole career. She does concerts as a solo artist as well as with FM as well. I've seen her in concert as just Stevie Nicks with her own music and I've been to FM concerts with her as lead singer/songwriter. She has been extraordinarily successful all these decades, both as a solo artist as well as the FM lead singer and song writer. She is so prolific as a songwriter that she HAD to go off on a solo career just to give her the outlet for all her songs. THAT'S how good she is!

Also, Stevie is a huge, huge supporter of the military, visiting Walker Reed-moving “around the halls of the hospital “-“Soldiers Angel” meeting these amazing and brave soldiers facing life-threatening and/or life-changing situations. She has supplied the hospital w/ IPods regularly. She is still my fairy godmother and supports all the magic in my life but it all starts w/ “Rhiannon “.

It's not how we die but how well we live the only life we're given. Death isn't about those who pass, it's about our grief and loss of our loved ones or friends. They are released from this world and now exist in eternity, forever and ever amen.

Another Song on my Playlist! Great Reaction & love you read up on it! I've actually sang this many times in Karaoke 😳...I tried to do justice but needed liquid courage 😆. On a serious note, deep Song, very personal to her but relatable. Death is so difficult & we do all grieve different. 💜

Yes, Stevie. One of the best female voices in Rock and Roll. Check out Leather and Lace with her and Don Henley. Beautiful.

When I was a kid, I thought this song was about an older woman, having a fling with a younger man, COOL! Then years later I hear this explanation that it was about her uncle dying, he was in room 17, etc, etc... WHAT??? LOL Blew all my perceptions but I still love the song and I'll stick to my perception, wrong as it may be but the lyrics fit hat scenario too. It took me a while to wrap my head around what she was actually saying, once I heard her explain it.

This song, Stevie & that BAND!!! Many of these guys have played behind Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne & many others! Her besties singing BGV on her music w/ her, she's the luckiest witchy women in the world & deserves every bit of it. Kunkel & Wachtel are back w/ Danny Kortchmar in The Immediate Family. Talented dudes & Stevie surrounds herself w/ guys like this & Tom Petty & Don Henley. Luv to SN!! Great reaction India....your thots about the song are interesting!! If you ever do Gypsy by FM, you SHOULD BTW, she wrote it about her friend who passed away, also there's another part of that story, but not within the song. ;o)) Stevie Nicks - lead vocals, writer Jimmy Iovine - producer Waddy Wachtel - guitar Bob Glaub - bass guitar Russ Kunkel - drums Bobbye Hall - percussion Benmont Tench - piano, organ Roy Bittan - piano Lori Perry - backing vocals Sharon Celani - backing vocals
