I just heard the sad and terrible news that Christine McVie has passed. She was a tremendous talent and seemed an even better person. Love this trip down Stevieland” very interesting stops! I’ve heard of all these places of course,loving Fleetwood MAC & loving Stevie Nicks solo work….. I grew up with them being the musical soundtrack of my life and she still at my age 63 still continues to inspire me! She is for certainly a fighter! that says more about Stevie than you may think. Restaurants often will take someone off the schedule once they have given a two-week notice. That is so they won't try to sabotage the crew with any poisonous attitudes and try to take anyone with them on the way out the door. The fact they let her work to the end means they loved her work and knew she wasn't leaving because she was mad or anything like that.

@@RockessentialTim I never ran my kitchen like some cats do. I saw a lot of wars between cooks and waitresses, and it just sucked. So, none of that in my kitchens. We always ended up with a staff that produced great and hard work with no dramas. Loads of fun, two company picnics every year, and that got me noticed. I was picked to run two different restaurants in the Seattle area because the staff was asked why the place ran as well as it did and they all said it was my running it that made it different. Sounds a bit full of myself, eh? But, all I wanted was harmony in the joint. And it worked out nicely. I never tried to get far in that industry. I was a union stagehand first. I only worked a couple weekends a month, so restaurants were actually a side gig. But it was something I enjoyed. Actually, I really love hard work. Must be a nut.

I saw Fleetwood Mac perform in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada the night of Mick’s 70th birthday. There were chills all down my back when the crowd sang “Happy Birthday.” Mick came out from behind his drum kit to bow to the audience and express his gratitude. A night I’ll never forget.

I knew most of the basic story, but this video provides some essential deeper details for mega fans like me . Yes, Stevie and Lindsay were certainly responsible for" the greatest band reboot in the history of music" . Interesting that Stevie and Lindsay never even charted with their debut album, and yet when they became the face of Fleetwood Mac, created (along with the others) some of the greatest music ever. Perhaps also one of the greatest examples of synergy in the music world as well.

I loved the first two Nicks/Buckingham era of Fleetwood Mac albums but wasn't so keen on 'Tusk'. Fascinating video, great channel.

Thanks. I think most people share your opinion about Tusk. Unfortunately, Village Studios where it was recorded is the only studio left in LA that Fleetwood Mac recorded at that is still intact so we had to go with that one. The Record Plant in Sausalito where they recorded Rumours is closed and Sound City where they did the White album is unrecognizable from what it was. The wholed story about the making of Rumours is pretty fascinating. Hmmmm....

Similar story with Jim's house in Laurel, New Years eve 1990 when the owners were renovating, I walked right in after midnight and laid down in the cast iron bath tub for a few minutes lol. My girlfriend was living across the street in a cottage that was Van Morrison's at some point. Hallowed ground for certain and you really have a niche!!

The following is interesting regarding secret locations in the Los Angeles area for Fleetwood Mac. One of the members owned a little horse ranch on the LA County / San Bernardino county border in a city named Chino. The band liked to hang out there to get away from Hollywood. One of the band members even bought an ownership share in a freestanding bar in Upland, just up the road on Route 66 which is now a Janitorial Supply Company named Foothill Janitorial Supply. Both these cities are vewry close to a city where lots of musicians from LA used to hang out called Claremont.

Not Stevie related, but two FM albums I can't recommend enough are 'Bare Trees' and 'Future Games'. Both with Bob Welch and both brilliant records. A big FM fan on KZbin said Bare Trees should be listened to in the winter, and Future Games is a summer album. I couldn't agree more. Although you west coasters are out of luck there. Excellent albums. Check them out.

@@RockessentialTim Tim, you HAVE to check out Danny Kirwan. He took over the band after Peter Green left. I got into Danny through Tom Petty. I was a religious listener to Tom's Sirius radio show and he played the shit out of Danny- era Fleetwood Mac. Tom was a hardcore fan of his. He had exquisite touch on his Les Paul. And as a songwriter, he was like McCartney without the sappiness. Start with a song called 'Dust' by Fleetwood Mac. It's gorgeous. Then crank up and rock out to 'Station Man' and 'Tell Me All the Things You Do'.

I can see I will be binge watching your content since it seems I have missed a few installments. Great journey through Stevie's past. I have to say the Tusk album was such an interesting follow up to Rumours. Sisters of the Moon is a wonderful gem of a song from that album. Should you go up north, perhaps, The Doobie Brothers would be a great subject. Obviously, the Bay area is replete with the haunts of numerous rock bands. Love your videos. Keep up the great work and thank you for your philanthropic efforts. Love Stevie and FM, both a huge part of the soundtrack of my life.

I never really got into Tusk way back when but when I realized I was going to get to tour Village Studios I listened to it a lot. As I mentioned in the vid, it may not be their best record but I think it was their most interesting...
