This is precisely why Paul Butterfield is my all-time favorite musician. As far as I know he hadn't done anything major in a decade and I'm surprised whoever put this show on even remembered him. Weeks before his death he gives three hall-of-famers a blues lesson. The power and passion behind his singing and harp is off-the-charts. Bravo Butter, and the rest of these greats too.

I remember seeing this show on TV when it first came out. When this song came on, the guy who blew me away was Butterfield; he sounded so damn good and so strong. I knew he'd been having his ups and downs, and was very happy that he looked and sounded so great. Within a few weeks of this taping, I was driving in my car with the radio on, and heard that he had passed away. I'll never forget that moment and the feeling of loss that came over me. R.I.P to all these giants.

This is a great example of Butterfield's 110% when performing. Saw him SOAR like this with his vocals and harp many a time at the old Fillmore west in the SF. When he soared he took the audience right along with him. At times he would drive his audience into a froth. Never seen anything like it before or since. No one dide it like Paul Butterfield. There was no Black or White thing with him. He was his own man. He was just plain Butterfield giving it all with his own twist without ever leaving the tradition that was the blues.

My frist real blues show was muddy waters in in 1978i was 16 man that was it I was completely hooked. I got to sit with John Lee once at the John Wayne club for about 45 minutes I was in awe. I was able to meet other blues greats like BB King Buddy Guy Albert King Stevie Ray Eric Clapton Albert Collins Roy Buchanan Lonnie Mack Johny Winters John Mayall Coco Montoya and many more even Les Paul and Leo Fender. It was my destiny to to see and meet as many blues men as possible, God blessed us with there music to help get us through life. God bless the Blues 🎸.
