@whynottalklikeapirat6 ай бұрын
THere is an often overlooked quality in guitarplaying which is “authority”. What I mean by that is putting every note out there with absolute conviction, like rallying behind it. The result doesn’t have to be explosive mind you, it can be all subtle and quiet, but all the great blues masters had that quality. There is just no fluff in there and if there is, there is still that will to pick it up and do something with that is truly meant and can be put out there with a full heart. I suspect this requires the player to have gone through that serious s process of personal artistic choice so that what is avalible to put out is only stuff worth getting behind, which means the impro is never a wild goose chase. But I also think that true “voice” simply does that work as well and that it is both something that is found and created but most of all brought to the fore with no distractions or chasing random styles or licks etc.

@@whynottalklikeapirat Gary has speed, when he wanted to use it, like many other players. But the difference is speed for just for speed sake is nothing without heart. (This was once said about Alvin Lee.) let there be no mistake, Gary had heart in all his playing.

Rumor has it that Eddie Van Halen listened to Gary Moore's work religiously. Says a lot about the quality of Gary Moore's playing. My favorite guitarist of all time.

Paul Gilbert Eric Clapton Joe Bonamassa BB King were all fans of Gary Moore

Why did Clapton avoid sharing a stage with Gary even though Gary had always expressed a desire to play together with Eric ?
@hesch-tag5 жыл бұрын
@@TheHumbuckerboy tbh I just think EC was not a fan of the way Gary played the blues.
@TheHumbuckerboy5 жыл бұрын
The only time when I witnessed EC acknowledging Gary was when he played an acoustic version of 'Still Got the Blues' in tribute to Gary after Gary had died.
@kensalazar50665 жыл бұрын
@@hesch-tag exactly Clapton had forgone progressive blues a long time ago. He wanted to remain very traditional, and he has....he had a different tone early on, but never underestimate EC , hes pretty phenomenal also...

Probably one of the best overdriven Fender Strats sounds Ive ever heard........single coils..who needs humbuckers............when your Gary Moore........
@beachfrontman7 жыл бұрын
Yes Michael..agree..that's one thing I picked up on early in this track! Let's not forget the importance of owning your own "sound" before many start making comparisons of who is the best etc...

Yes that’s true. Let’s not forget that Strat has been worked on and beefed up

Gary and SRV were the epitome of " ferocious blues". There may be imitators and replicators but this is the real deal.

this was an incredible musician. I think each musician contributes artistic original pieces. I never saw him live, but oh I sure wish I did, what a talent.

This song is a bit of a blues standard and has been covered many times. I have heard Stevie Ray Vaughan playing it and I thought that was the best till I heard this. It blew me away!
