He switched from a red guitar to a white guitar, had to tune it, foot pedal, played one handed, played behind his back, played with his eyes closed, played vertical and horizontal, gave a awesome speech, sang great, played with his teeth and broke a tooth, He looked for it,said " broke a tooth,It's gone "and Smiled and thanked his friend Charlie and HE DID NOT EVEN MISS A BEAT!!! WHAT ARE YOU GOOD AT??🤔🐐🎸🔥😍😁😢😢😢😢😢 RIP STEVIE

My friend and I were wrapping up a night of cruising around and anticipating the SRV concert we had tickets to the next day, when we decided to end it with a beer and a game of pool at the local bowling alley around midnight. We noticed the large bus/motor home in the mostly empty lot, but didn't give it much thought. When we entered, we found Stevie Ray and Double Trouble + crew were there bowling! We tried not to act like fanboys, but we did shake hands and talked for a quick minute. He told us that he and the crew liked to bowl a few games to relax and blow off some steam after being on the road. My friend lived minutes away, so he ran home and brought back his Texas Flood LP for Stevie to sign and I am still jealous almost forty years later. The show at the Charleston (WV) Municipal Auditorium in Feb of 1987 was amazing and blew us all away.

I was fortunate to experience Stevie live 8 times. Always magic but I don't recall him playing behind his back. The last 3 shows I saw were especially spiritual as he was sober and performing In Step. Tightrope and Riveria Paradise... fantastic! When he performed Life Without You he talked humbly about his recovery. RIP SRV , still missed!

There is so much you missed in this video. Has trouble tuning his 1st guitar. Directs stage-hands for another guitar. Changes his guitar (without you even noticing), Drops and bends down to retrieves guitar pick. Recalibrates his amplifiers. Plays from any imaginable position. Gives a beautiful speech. Loses a tooth playing with his teeth...you can see him look off stage and say, "lost a tooth"..."it's gone". You get the feeling that he could throw his guitar off of the stage...and still play it! Geez...I'm so glad I grew up in Dallas, Texas and got to witness this amazing, humble man. Thank you, SRV. See you in heaven.

I subbed on your first Stevie video💯. His baby, toddler, and kid pictures show oversized hands in comparison to his small frame. Stevie made the most out of those monster hands‼️. Self taught from age 7, he learned to find the notes by playing the records of all the Blues Masters. And find them he did🎶🎸🎶💙. He never learned to read music probably because music read him so well💯. He grew up to jam with all his idols who loved him dearly and respected the hell out of his playing. A man playing the guitar? Or a guitar playing the man?

The first time I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan was In Houston Texas, 1981. A friend of mine said that there was a really good guitar player from Austin playing at Fitzgerald's that night, and that we should go check him out. We did go check him out, and because we got there early we got a table that was pushed right up against the middle of the stage wall. I could have reached out and touched him. As many young ladies did, “touching his boots,” while he was playing. Needless to say, it was an unforgettable experience, and one I've recanted many times. I remember when we were leaving, I said to my friend, “What was that guy’s name again? I think he might be going places. Totally blew me away!

As you said... "He makes every note count." One of my favorite Bible verses is "Say only what helps, each word a gift." Well, SRV does that with notes, thoughtfully... intentionally... expressively... organically! The music flows through him... and from him to my soul. I resonate when I see and listen to and feel SRV. Stevie tunes me like he tunes his guitar... so naturally... guiding, coaxing, bending, blessing my life. Love. The master's touch. 🎶🎸🕊️ Thank you for such a genuine and sensitive reaction.

I was there, that foggy Sunday night in Alpine Valley, WI. The ticket was Robert Cray, Stevie Ray & Eric Clapton. Stevie's guest was his brother, Jimmy Vaughn; Eric's was Buddy Guy. All 5 jammed together for the encore and took it till after midnight. The last song Stevie ever played on stage was Sweet Home Chicago. The irony is that is where he was going when his copter went down

"He makes the human experience tangible through music" - great way of putting it! Other masterful SRV videos: Stevie Ray Vaughn Tin Pan Alley (with Johnny Copeland) Stevie Ray Vaughan - Lenny (Live at the El Mocambo) Jimi Hendrix was one of Stevie's idols, and he often covered Jimi's songs...always making them truly his own. Here's a couple of favorites: Stevie Ray Vaughan ~Voodoo Child ~ Live From Austin T Stevie Ray Vaughan - Little Wing (07/11/1983) Also, here's one where a string breaks and with the help of his amazing guitar tech Rene Martinez, they switch guitars in seconds without missing a beat: STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN - Look At Little Sister || a string breaks ||

There is an interview with Chris and Tommy of Double Trouble and they say he did not play behind his back at every show. He only did it with out planning it. And, they say they rarely had a set list unless when they played with Jeff Beck because of the light show. His bending was his strong hands. Most other people could not play his guitar because he used such huge strings.
