The song title "Ebony Eyes" has been used by other artists (i.e. John Loudermilk, Rick James, Bob Welch, the Everly Brothers) but here, it's an original by Stevie Wonder.
I have loved this song since I first heard it from the album, "Songs in the Key of Life" (1976) . Not being a Supremes fan, I never even considered the connection between Wonder and Diana Ross (for whom he shared a deep and lifelong affection).
Though I have read that this song could also be a tribute to Florence "Flo" Ballard, one of the original founder/members of the Supremes in 1964, most people believe it was written about Diana Ross. Seems logical to me considering the lyrics.
Diana Ross (who recently turned 70) is a world-renowned singer, actress, model, fashion designer and concert performer. She is customarily referred to as an "icon" or "diva". After making this video, I have no doubt about it. I rather regret not having paid attention to her prominence and talent before now.
Thanks to an old friend, Norm, who is one of the most avid and loyal fans Ross has ever had, I recognized and I now appreciate his rave reviews of her over the years. This one's for you, Norm!!

Great song, great vocalist, ... not just Diana Ross, but Stevie Wonder as well!! And a great production. NOW ... can we have some more? Such as Dion Warwick? Luther Vandross? Dion Warwick was/is also a stellar artist with a very unique, (almost a raspy), voice. Well, I would suppose you could spend a lifetime doing videos about the greatest singers, or performers. I think that would surely keep me busy in my retirement days, and it would also be FUN! Congrats, on a well-made video!!
