Stevie is Stevie. He never fails to outdo himself. George Michael proved that he can hold his own with anyone. He was a great adaptable talent. At times, he even sounded like Stevie. Wow! May he rest in peace.

The most amazing thing about this is there was no rehearsal. I just read the 'George Michael: A Life' biography and had to look up this performance. It's even more incredible than described in the book. His voice was so soulful and gorgeous, and combined with Stevie, it is just a heavenly performance.

George Michaels was such a beautiful person, but didn't know and believe it himself. If only he had a true friend, he'd probably would have still been with us. RIP
@LeeC926
@LeeC926 Ай бұрын
He had numerous true, life long friends - none of which cashed in on his death like his ex partners did. It's absurd that he didn't believe in himself - he said throughout his lifetime that he always knew his music was who he was and he had total faith in it. As to his personal life, it was challenging as it is for many of the rest of us and having friends doesn't matter when there is serious depression or substance use issues, both of which he had and declined help for.

The period of 9/11/2001 was one of the worst of my life. The Twin Towers fell. My wife and I were being challenged economically with the possibility of losing both incomes that put food on the table for us and our two young children. No one, neither of us nor the greater world around us knew where to turn for answers. We had no words to express what we were feeling as a family and as a country. Then in the televised 911 Tribute I saw Stevie Wonder and George Michael sing this song from Stevie's Songs In the Key of Life. Somehow I had missed this song when it was first released. But when I heard it that night in 2001, the song's words struck me to my core. I found a quiet place away from everyone else and I allowed myself to weep. I will forever be grateful to Stevie for writing the song and to George Michael for helping to deliver it so beautifully that night. That song said what many of us could not put into words. R.I.P. George Michael. You were one of the best singers of our generation. You were a great artist and a courageous human being!

To think that George was only 20, 21 when this aired live. His voice developed into a velvety, soulful,silkiness that no one else had. He delivered his vocals with tenderness, vulnerability, and passion that shot straight to your soul. A rare one of a kind talent, that wrote arranged and produced all of his music. Love him always! No wonder he had the respect of, Stevie, Aretha, Elton, Whitney, Frank Sinatra’s ( considered him the best voice of the 20th century) and countless other contemporaries. ❤️

Stevie and Michael, two of the nicest humans to ever grace the earth. They are both genuinely nice human beings with wonderful hearts, souls, and voices. What an honor to have seen George for the first time at this venue. I did not see this video until recently, as I came of age when GM released Faith. I've always known George as an artist that can belt his voice on the turn of a dime. However, what a way to introduce himself to the world as a soul singer coming out of WHAM! days. And next to Stevie Wonder at the Apollo. Stunning. Watching this recording is a spiritual experience on so many levels.

I just love watching this performance and then watching the performance George Michael did decades later on his own f or a charity concert. It really demonstrates how much he has matured as a singer and demonstrates his vocal skills. He sings so beautifully. HIS voice over the years only became more fuller, and richer in tone and quality. It really amazes me since I knew he smoked. This can be very damaging to the vocal chords. HE was truly blessed with much talent. IT is a shame he died so young. I hope younger singers up and coming, especially those who are teenagers will NOT do any drugs, and NOT smoke too, and perhaps lengthen their lives. Once you have made it and people adore you, it really saddens them, when you die too young. RIP GM, and thanks to Stevie Wonder who trusted in this talent to invite him in to sing with him. Very awesome!

Stevie is not only a brilliant songwriter, but also a brilliant singer, so of course he is magnificent here. Stevie Wonder and George Michael can NEVER be duplicated. 80's music was some of the best music to be written and performed. Music with meanings. Bring it back❤

GM was so young, amazing performance at such a young age.GM was still trying to find himself personally. He still was heavier here and the blonde hair. Thank you, Gm for letting us get to know you.

This program aired when I was 16(the 80's was a great time to grow up at the time with great music, movies & T.V. programs) George killed it that night with his performance. George had the talent & the pipes to duet with best like Stevie & later on Aretha Franklin. George will be sorely miss.

Wow.. what a speech by Stevie Wonder at the beginning. Everything he said is still relevant today, in 2017.. love this!! Wonderful duet. George sings with so much PASSION! What 21-year-old today sounds like him? That's how old George was here, he was in his early 20's. Remarkable.
