Everyday I personally believe even more that is true. He is beyond "expertise", he's unique. His music guides you to a whole different universe that no one else has achieve. As a Latin, when I first started to hear his music, I just was pleased to be familiar with his sound, but even if he was inspired by something, he still took that "something" and transformed it in something so unique. I love him with each beat of my heart.

Anybody listened the Jacob Collier's version?
@gatsbylight4766
@gatsbylight4766 7 жыл бұрын
Uhhh, I heard the first 20 seconds of Jacob's version.... I couldn't listen to much more than, which is why I'm over now here. Jacob sings in just one color; kind of a low nasal tenor. Sounds kinda artificial. He needs to open up his nasopharynx and sing naturally. For my tastes anyway.

@@gatsbylight4766 I could go in depth but you wouldn't even get it. Collier uses microtones in his music to get musical color stevie did not achieve with the original. Collier uses a number of modal and chromatic changes that give body to the harmonies he used. The track probably over 100 vocal tracks by itself. I could give an in depth reason as to why you're all morons. But most of this will be gibberish to you.
@gatsbylight4766
@gatsbylight4766 4 жыл бұрын
@@theplayerformerlyknownasmo3711 - hahaha... spoken like a young, wide-eyed buck.... who believes he knows all. hahaha Meanwhile, back in the real world: So, you say _"Collier uses microtones ... Collier uses a number of modal and chromatic changes..."_ *And yet,* despite all of those supposed 'microtones', Jacob *still* *_"sings in just one color;"_* *And yet,* despite all of those _'modal and chromatic changes'_ Collier *still* *_"sings in kind of a low nasal tenor."_* *And yet,* despite all of that _'body'_ that Collier supposedly gives to the harmonies he used, Jacob *still* *_"sounds kinda artificial"_* ... exactly as I said in my original comment. You say _"Collier uses microtones in his music to get musical color stevie did not achieve with the original."_ *And yet,* Stevie Wonder is regarded by many to be one the greatest musical artists in the history of the art form. And Jacob Collier? Well, to be polite, let's just say *'not'.* And FYI: If Stevie Wonder did not use 'microtones' (hahahaha) in his original recording of the song, that might be a good first clue as to whether 'microtones' (hahahaha) should be used in such a song. Well, on second thought.... maybe I should check something before I make that comment (hang on).... ... .. Ok, I checked: It appears that Stevie Wonder has sold over *100 million records.* So, yeah - I'm gonna stick with my statement that if Stevie Wonder had the musical intelligence not to use 'microtones' in his R&B song..... ahhhhhh hahahahahaha *_If_* - and I repeat: 'If' Collier was attempting to use "microtones" (hahahaha), on an *R&B* classic, in a *Pop* arrangement, with an *R&B* background group - then we'd just chalk that up to lack of experience, lack of seasoning, lack of reasoning, musical immaturity, and a musical experiment to be admired for it's braveness but called what it factually is: a failed experiment. However, back here in reality there is *nothing* to evidence that Collier was attempting to use microtones (if he was, he needs further development as to how to do so). The obvious product-result of Jacob's singing is that his musical vocal sound is parallel to his spoken voice sound production. [Note: I didn't say that his musical vocal sound _'sounds like'_ his spoken voice sound production - I said it is _'parallel'._ ] And as for his musical vocal sound, as a listener I don't care for it; as a musician, I don't like his sound, I think that his vocal sound production is technically flawed, he apparently has a nasopharynx restriction (naturally physiologically restricted or from poor vocal mechanics) which causes his sound to be too colored and artificial... *for my taste.* You say that you could _"go in depth but I wouldn't even get it"_ ? Well, maybe you're right... I might not get it; since it's been so long - what's it been, 38 years ago (?) when I wrote my first large ensemble piece in the idiom of 20th century neoclassical atonal avant-garde post-Schoenberg utilizing microtones, polyrhythms (such as 17/8 superimposed over 11/4), and single-instrument polyphonics. But, hey - maybe you'll refresh my memory with your vast knowledge and wisdom of music. hahahahaha I've got to admit, I often find it amusing that folk on this Internet make these wildly unintelligent comments, without having the slightest clue as to who's on the other end here. I've got nothing to prove after all these years, so I'll just say 'nuff said. But, still amused... hahahahahahaha
