Hi MW! Thank you so much for the sub - very appreciated! Makes all the work on the videos worthwhile. I'm just finishing the AVGP video - it should be up by next week. The Stug is ready for paint too and the paint/weathering video should be posted in early September. Good luck with your own projects!

You do good work broseph! Your building and painting road wheels separately is a great technique, I tend to build them all at once and then kick myself when I can't get full paint coverage! Thank you

Great videos, as always! 👍👍 I built both this model & Trumpeter's "Ekranami" KV-1 about 10 to 15 years ago, and I have no recollection of the obvious gaps, fit problems & problematic flash that you encountered. So, I think you were absolutely correct when you suggested that the molds are getting old & in desperate need of retooling. Also, I wonder if individual molds can shift or deform with time as well, which would explain the gaps & fit problems. Nevertheless, as you clearly demonstrated, the problems were not difficult to solve...just a bit more time on construction before the fun painting/weathering could take place. And, I love the finish you gave the big beast! It looks like it has been rolling around in the mud & marshes while chasing Nazis near the KV factory in Leningrad (*)....but the kit's good detail & blocky, intimidating lines have not been obscured. 👍👍 Well done Tomas! 😊 (*) After reading about (a) some of the shocking & frequently deadly encounters with the KV-1 that the Germans experienced by while manning their Pz. Kpfw III & IV tanks, and (b) the surprising vulnerability of the early T34 tanks, I happen to believe that the KV-1 is much more responsible for rattling the confidence of the Panzer divisions during Barbarrossa than its sleeker, more highly-lauded Soviet comrade. IMHO, the T34 really seemed to imprint itself on the memories of Panzer leaders during the Soviets's desperate counter-attacks as the 'Rasputitsa' arrived....then again, during the first bitterly cold snowy winter of the Soviet-Axis War, when the Germans approached & stalled in front of the gates of Moscow. It was at this point that the T-34 gained a nickname, "the Snow King(s)", in honour of the T-34's speed & superior maneuverability in conditions that frustrated the Germans & even limited the KV-1. To my knowledge, the KV-1, while feared, never received any sort of complimentary nickname from its adversaries like the T-34 did.

Hi Derek - thank you for the amazing note. Always nice to hear from people with similar interests and I appreciate your feedback. I agree that the T34 was a lemon in its initial form (two-man turret, belched smoke like a sausage factory and noisy as a bad punk band). But I think in the end it proved to be a war winner as its turret and gun were improved. The 34 did everything the KV did but better and the latter's gun was just too puny - a whole lot of tank for not too much gun. Still I really enjoyed building the KV although I think the Tamiya release is better overall (if you can stomach the price). Once I finish the AVGP cougar I've got a Stug calling my name but after that I can see trying my hand at a T34 in the near future. Stay well Derek and hope to have you visit again!

Great build video was very good, when blending the oil streaks did you have thinner on your brush? Or was it dry
@stevieRay3211
@stevieRay3211 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Epic, thanks for writing. Definitely use a wet brush when streaking. You want to blend the colours and be able to draw them down the surface. How much you leave on depends on your taste or the environment the vehicle is operating in. Thanks for watching!

Undercoating raw steel color you use brown, black and red? But all I can see from the video is black; I don’t really see any brown and red in the mix? 😅

How much dilution for the main green color on top in order to show the some undercoat of raw steel color? 😅
@stevieRay3211
@stevieRay3211 6 ай бұрын
Hey Silvestersze, thanks for the note. The undercoat color is sort of a raw steel colour which is very close to black. The lights and the video sometimes distort the actual colour. I add a bit of red and brown to give it that light rust patina look. Look at these raw steel slabs, www.pinterest.ca/pin/137359857361138693/. You can even see some blue in there. I don't dilute the overcoat to show the metal colour underneath. Rather, I spray lightly with an airbrush so as not to cover the undercoat completely.

@@stevieRay3211 I do have one more concerning question about the steel slab. I went to the link you’ve provided (thx btw), I think the steel slabs (or any kind of metal) should have different degrees of metallic silver-ish shininess, shouldn’t they? Should I add some silver paint into the over coat (black-red-brown)? Please advise. And thank you again. 😄😄

Bare metal that's exposed to the air and elements looses it's shine almost right away. Also you likely don't want too much bright shiny metal on your tank. You can highlight, here and there, with a pencil but don't overdo it. See the M5 video, it shows the pencil treatment. Good luck.

I can't read Russian but thank you! I have since put your comment through a translator and it says that the "h" is missing in the lettering. Not sure if that's an oversight on my part or Trumpeter. But thank you for the clarification.
