Great drummer and person. I missed him playing in Sum 41. He was a signature part of their sound.

I think that Steve is coming back out is because he will play some part in the final Sum41 shows. From what I'm seeing, he could 100% walk right on stage and play a set. Gotta love this guys energy and positive attitude.

Good to see Stevo again! I remember when I was a member of the Goon Platoon back in the Chuck era, you could ask them questions, and I asked : Why 32 in Stevo-32? Stevo answered : My mom used to write Stevo on my underwear next to the size "32", hence his nickname Stevo-32 hahahaha Steve, if you read this, I'm amazed that you say you didn't nerd out too much on the drum, I remember my dad being super impressed by the drumming listening to Sum 41 songs together. I can't wait to see how you drum today! I miss you in the band, and hope you will make a surprise appearence in the last show of Sum 41 in Toronto, January 30 2025! Sum 41 has always been my top band of all time, got me through so much hard parts in my life, and I still get shivers listening to some songs. I got my gold VIP ticket and I would have paid more to meet and greet since I missed it back in Chuck days, always regretted it since then. Take care, love you!

Holy shit I totally forgot about the goon platoon on their website. I remember their orange/green Chuck-themed website with questions. I remember asking Steve questions about his drumming and he was always so responsive. God, I remember how happy I was to see he actually answered. It felt insane. Miss those times

I started off playing in punk bands when I was 14 in Sault ste. Marie ( home to Greg from CT \m/) it took me a long time to ever attempt to learn any kind of technique and theory. I had some sense of pride in being "self taught" and that was tied to the whole punk rock thing. After spending so much time playing drums and being known as a drummer, I was almost embarrassed about it. After putting in the time practicing to understand the music and develope that muscle memory. I can play things that I thought I'd never have the skill to play and in genres i didn't appreciate at the time but do now. It made me feel better knowing a drummer I seriously looked up to, had similar road blocks. Thanks for the interview guys!!

interesting they both said they are using index finger fulcrum, I really found moving to second finger fulcrum give the stick move round to move and you don't have to pinch grip it. Let you index finger point out to practice this. Try it with doubles, you will see the pinched index fulcrum is shortening the stick movement.
