I have been enjoying your macro videos. You do great work. On this video I have a technical question. If you use live-view the mirror has to be raised, otherwise you could not use live-view. Therefore, I believe, there is no need to raise the mirror. In fact, I have read that using Mirror Lock Up may create some vibration when the shutter opens. In live-view the shutter is open and the exposure is initiated electronically, so there is no movement at all. So I think you may have made a mistake in your live-view vs mirror lock up comment.
@StewartWoodArt5 жыл бұрын
Just looked over my camera settings and your right :) Not sure why it didn't work before when using live view, maybe my triggers are not compatible with live view. Thank you very much, next time I do this type of video I'll be sure to mention you :)
@philipculbertson555 жыл бұрын
Exactly right. The mirror has to be up for live-view to function (otherwise it would block the sensor) so no need for mirror lock up when in live view. If using viewfinder, Mirror lock up does help stem any vibration.
@johnpettett73284 жыл бұрын
@@StewartWoodArt I have found my extension tubes don't communicate perfectly. Affects remote trigger performance.
@ChasWGАй бұрын
5 years later and we now have mirrorless cameras. Set the camera to electronic shutter and there is zero vibration except for you pressing the button or touching the screen to release it there. But that's what the 2 or 10 second timer is for, allow things to settle and then the camera takes in the image. Love my Canon RF body! But a lot of my friends still use DSLRs.

Thank you very much for such great tips. Just one concern: Wouldn't that Glycerin pollutes the water and affects its crystal clarity? I think there would be more clarity in water drop if it was pure and you'll be getting a clear refractive image of threads behind the drop...
