I'm 76 when I was a boy of 8 or 9 in Ireland, I used to catch them on a small worm impaled on a long rush! The art was timing the moment when the stickle back had sucked most of the little worm down his throat and then the gentle lift out and swing into the jam jar of water ! Happy childhood memory's and at 76 I'm still fishing in New Zealand!

Same here, although I dangled the worm near my fishing net instead. Red-throats were the fastest, very exciting to catch one of those. Teacher helped set up a junior school aquarium and the sticklebacks bred! So interesting for we little kids!

Hi jack i have a pond in my garden and last year my daughter and myself caught around 6 sticklebacks from a body of water containing prams trolleys and other debris we took them home and put them into a holding tank and gradualy introduced them to fresh water we gathered from rain we have released them into our garden pond and they are thriving 👍

@@OdiFroilan No. We tend to stick with mainly dull and boring in the UK :)

What is the normal months that the 3 spined stickleback breeds? Does it depend on the water temperature? As the warm weather has come later this year especially up north of England would this delay the breeding?
