Hi Olly, I'm not a farmer myself but my mum was a dairy farmers daughter and I spent most of my teenage years milking, mucking out etc. One of my son-in-laws part owns his family farm and wants to pass it on to my grandchildren. So emotionally I'm very involved. But....emotion won't win the argument with the government. What is needed are hard, reliable and verifiable facts which show clearly how many farmers will be affected and precisely what the effect will be; not difficult to substantiate speculation, but rather data driven scenarios in which confidence can be placed. Farmers also need to start taking good advice on how they can minimise the inheritance tax through proper tax planning - transferring farm assets into a limited company, putting assets into trust for their children etc. I know that for many farmers who own small/medium farms that have passed down from generation to generation, this requires a new way of thinking, but I think we can be sure that although the government may yield to pressure and modify the new rules, for example by increasing the tax free thresholds, they won't change the basic concept; inheritance tax on business assets, including agricultural ones, is here to stay. History shows that even when a change of government takes places, a new government seldom undoes unpopular measures from previous governments if they are bringing in 'good' revenues for the Treasury. So it would be foolish to put much store by the hope that if/when a Conservative government returns to office, they'll change much.

You are all doing an amazing job pulling this together in a very short space of time. I think you are approaching it very correctly in asking for calm to get the point across. I would have liked to attend but busy power washing pig sheds out, despite the government not regarding me as a working person. 🤦

Well done Olly for all your hard work organising. Keep your chin up. You and the team are capturing the problems and putting them over in a clear manner. Family farms should continue to be the backbone of food production in this country - don't want abandoned farms like some countries in Europe sadly have.

Great video Olly, thank you, thank you, thank you to you and the other KZbin Farmers for your selfless outstanding effort in giving purpose to this protest and to focus the *FARMERS* & peoples righteous anger towards the Government and their policies. I have no doubt it will be a great success. But despite that this Labour Government are so out of touch with the public I fear they will not understand or may even choose to ignore it. To do so will be a major mistake for them. As a country man born and bred you have my undying support whatever happens. *NO FARMERS = NO FOOD" As a "Country" man I have the skills to provide for my family by "Legal Hunting, fishing and growing my own food"✌✌👌👌 👍👍. People need to realise that food doesn't just magically appear in the shops and even if it did it will still cost them considerably more because of this Governments actions! 😠.

Not a single apology needed Olly you and the other guys are doing what so many want too do but can't it's amazing to see a high profile name such as yourself bear the weight of thousands on their shoulders ... I look at this as your sacrifice for the many ... We all hope it works .. we all hope it doesn't need some French methods ... So what your doing is amazing and needed you've got everyone's support across the country and to hear jcb claas etc are getting involved ... Let's be honest if the government doesn't listen now with even defra having a dig at them .. then at that point the only option is aggression being how many people this affects

There will be many more people, like me, who through age, infirmities, lack of money, commitments to look after animals or relatives, cannot attend London (which thankfully is a very long way from North Sutherland) but nevertheless wholeheartedly support your efforts. You will have to oust the despot as he will never understand the need to apologise. A man who can condone genocide will not concern himself over the fate of anybody but himself. The 19th is but one step on a long hard road. Keep going please.
@jeremiahkearney51916 сағат бұрын
Don’t apologise for a government f***up, an unaffordable tax is unfair, and a tax that makes businesses unprofitable, and particularly food security at risk must be addressed, repealed, or never implemented. Keep up the good work for British farmers and the wider world as no doubt other governments will follow the British government example if it isn’t resisted.

Look for Colchester Council watch vid around a year ago ish. It explains what the agenda is.... Talk to the hay team tv on here. He knows what's going to. That farmer at the end here should say the opportunity to produce food for a nation that will starve! Just say the point as well as wanting his son to have the opportunity to farm. Speak to the hay team, he's aware.

Its crazy how shorted sighted the government have become in the UK, they really need to get away from their desks and see the UK for what it is and not just on paper, even i know how little the margins are on farming, not only tax our farmers out of hundreds of years of farming, but then send billions to fund a war overseas, just cant rack my brain as to what they are on

Watch your videos alot think you should use the last few sentences of the video were your explaining what's happing every time you are on TV or any other farmer is on TV as whats you sed is a explanation in a nut shell, and is a one message paragraph, but easy and to the point for Joe public to understand and not loose interest plus too many good point for the minsters mps to worm out of in interviews but enough points for the the person who's interviewing to keep asking clarification on for mps etc to worm Slim through a interview without coming off like they have not got it wrong, which they have no uk farmers no food Loose money from UK economy buying overseas food. Good Look.
