Greater Valparaiso Special #22 - NAW/Hess BT 5-25 - Line 802 TMV - HD/Stereo

This is the twenty second in a series of videos that will show different sights of Greater Valparaiso, with various transportation modes and also experiencing the performance of its fleet in various situations.
It will correspond again to the only trolleybus service existing in Chile, riding various NAW BT 5-25 trolleybuses that runs on line 802, between Argentina Av. and Customs Regional Office, in Central Valparaiso. This route, existing since 1950's, is still intensely used and highly valued by the "porteños", being one of the icons of the city.
Freak Fact: It is the only regular urban service in Chile featuring Next Stop announcing system, and it is bilingual.
The recorded trolleybuses were acquired by Trolebuses de Chile S.A. from Public Transport Company Lucerne (VBL), Switzerland, for a symbolic value of ca. 3500000 CLP between years 2014 to 2017. With more than 30 years running on and refurbished, they can be in service for many many years. Originally were compliant to the third generation of Swiss Standard for Urban Buses
For their time they were innovative: They had traction system by thyristors, the first trolleybuses with regenerative braking (developed by Siemens), they have a generator driven by combustion engine to move in case of power outage and their bodywork of CO-BOLT structure developed for the first time at Hess Carrosserie guaranteed a service life of at least 30 years.
In chassis chapter, they are high floor version for Mercedes O405, builded under license.

Bakan el registro. Encuentro hermosos estas unidades, vez que puedo las tomo. Solo siento tristeza por los troles antiguos que se estan oxidando en la ex maestranza Baron. Ojala exista algun proyecto de rescate hacia ellos. Saludos! Gracias por el material

Es que da pena, da lata y desazón que estén tirados allí. Esos debiesen de ser piezas de museo plenamente operativos, pero además preservados impecables por ser monumentos históricos nacionales
