Just picked up my inherited 041AV stihl chainsaw from a Baraboo WI dealer. They got it running by draining oil out of the spark plug hole, releasing the hydraulic lock of the piston in the crankcase. I asked how to prevent that, they told me that you need a special tool and need to split the housing in two to get at the oiler gasket that has likely failed. Apparently a 'C' clip tool is not in the certified stihl service tool box :) Your youtube is spot on! Thank you!

I would guess they, like my local stihl dealer, were unable to source a factory part. Many of these guys won't use aftermarket stuff. Usually its a company policy, or they won't warranty it. They'd rather just sell you a new saw. But for $30 and a pair of C clip pliers, you've got a great saw. Thanks for watching!
