STIHL BG50 VS BG55 / Should you upgrade / Which will last longer / and common problems

I compare the Stihl BG50 to the BG55. The BG 55 is no longer made so should you keep it or replace it? I also go over some common problems with both blowers and their good points as well.

I just bought the BG 50, need it for the small jobs around my home, the back blower is a little big to get in some of the tight areas, if that triger problem happens to my BG50, I'll use some of my plastic repair and fill to fix that problem, Great Video on the Blower, THANKS for posting !

I’m glad I have the old school bg55 it’s a great blower and is 10 years old now.

just had a bg55 given to me while on a jobsite. it only runs (poorly) on choke but hopefully it will be a simple fix. good to know they’re well built.

Thank you for the video. Just picked up bg 50. Its a great little machine. Do you know if any gutter cleaning kit will work with it? I've looked it up and seems alot of stihl blowers are showing compatible with the kit except the bg 50.

Not compatible with the 50. The 56 is the real replacement for the 55

Is it OK to apply some light wtaerproof grease (I use BelRay on my mtorcycles for decades) or dry lube (teflon in an aerosol can) onto the white throttle post / orange trigger mating surfaces?

Echo 2620 or 2520 vs bg55 for home use and reliability

Stihl hands down. I don’t like the air filters on the echo and have seen many coil failures. Use a good ethanol free fuel if using on a limited basis.

or just put a screw on the trigger housing on the bg50.
