There is nothing in the manual under maintenance about this. Unbelievable! Thank you for this critical information.

Thank you for the info on the grease location. I bought my first and use gas weed trimmer FS38 at a garage sale. It runs great.

I like your stuff! So I own a Stihl too eh big beast of a thing but it's great. Anyway a guy at the dump gave me a green Featherlite & boy is it ever light! FL25C is the model. Later found out he just said it won't start. I know most ppl including him I guess consider these Poulan things garbage. But I can't help but like the little thing, Long story short I took it apart including the carb; cleaned it up got er goin. It just doesn't run for long &/ or it bogs out, then a little puff of smoke out the carb & goes to sleep. I suspect the idle screws need adjusting but they're some weird shape & I can't change them. Suggestions?

I filled a syringe with grease and injected the grease into the port. My battry powerd trimmer also has a grease port.

Is there a way to turn the head to edge? I currently turn the entire unit and it keeps shutting off every 2-3 mins?
@julianhull9658 ай бұрын
The "grease hole" screw retains the bearing mounting inside the tube. The whole bearing can then by pulled out easily. I placed the spindle in a pillar drill and spun it slowly whilst pushing in grease with a 2ml syringe - it doesent go in easily but eventually clean grease squidges out of the ends. Also the flexible drive can be pulled out of the tube and re-greased and slid back in. Attach the bearing first and rotate it so the flexible drive engages at the engine end. All very easy. But not covered in any Stihl manual that Ive come across.

I would like to add, you need to turn the head shaft while greasing to work out the old grease, otherwise your not getting the old dirt and bad grease out. Keep pumping and watch your head as you turn it and pay attention to the color of the grease coming out, stop ounce the color of the grease looks the same as what’s going in. No discoloration and clean looking. This will keep that bearing healthy.

I have a Stihl FS 36 that still runs great, just won't die! Good compression. Trouble is the orange plastic cowling that covers and cuts the line has broken. Also I would like to buy a new line-trimmer bump head. My local dealer cannot access parts for a machine this old. Anybody know of another source?

Just a brass bushing sleeve, not a roller bearing, these things are non-replaceable far as I know but they can last a long time even if they wear.. Check out this dude, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKaZeoKbrdh3ntk

Also be aware of the 2 nuts securing the air filter box to the cylinder head. They can become loose and enter into the combustion chamber/crank case and destroy things. Has just happened to me, with damaged piston and cylinder chamber. My FS38 has had practically no more than 2 hours working time. Who designs it so you have tiny little components which can become loose next to a large opening leading into a fast moving mechanism? It's almost as if it was designed with this flaw.
@GettingItDoneRepairs Жыл бұрын
Wow never heard of this. Maybe it was an odd thing where the nuts weren't torqued properly from the factory. I have many hours on mine and my Dads has been 5 times as much as mine. No issues. I will check mine.
@jayytee8062 Жыл бұрын
@@GettingItDoneRepairs Yep, make sure they are not loose. Some sort of locking compound wouldn't hurt either.

I bought one of these fs38 at a garage sale for 25$ because the trimmer head is seized. Probably because he didn't grease the bearing😂. Right?
