Stihl HLA 66 and Husqvarna 520iHE3 Pole Hedgers Conversation

Hey guys, just having a conversation about how the Husqvarna battery powered pole hedger the 520iHE3 compares to the Stihl HLA66. Both very good pole hedgers but there certainly are a few differences between the two. Check out the video where I discuss them in detail.

Good video mate, I first started using this battery stuff at my time with the environment agency in the uk. having left there now to return to my own gardening business. I’m just about to upgrade most of my gear to the husky battery stuff. I think it’s the way forward especially with the rising cost of fuel not to mention the benefits for the environment. Only thing is the cost of battery’s but I suppose it is all relative with technology at the moment.

Excellent intro to these 2 top brand machines. Wonder when Echo will bring a rival machine out? In UK they just have a multi-tool 56v battery system on the market.

We use the Husqvarna trimmers. Happy with them so far.

I use HLA 85 and HSA 94T great products but one 94T burnt on me.. smoke and sparks.. motor dead. Not tried Husky but already invested into Stihl batteries and have a bit of their gear + 20 year old HRU 196 mower (without blade and engine brake :) so happy.

I run the husky 520 he3, Stihl hsa94t and hla 85 and I agree the 4000 cuts is great on the husky. But on the extended pole pruner I like the 3000 cuts of the Stihl as it’s torquey and great for thicker branches up high.

Hi mate I have both, both are great but feel the gear box housing is stronger built on the Stihl as I have replaced two bottom plates on the Husqvarna due to hitting fence wire or hidden nails the housing breaks and cost £55 each time. Hope your well and busy 👍

Is there any reasoning about choosing the standalone versions instead of the combi units other than just having dedicated units? Or is there an actual performance difference?

HI, do you know whether the BLi10 and BLi20 and 30 fit into the same pole trimmer units?

what is the max vertical length of each with the trimmer head turned 90 degrees. From your video it appears these two products do not have the reach of their competitors and that is the whole reason you buy a trimmer on a pole.

Not really a deal-breaker but one thing I've never really liked about Stihl is the white and orange... The white looks tatty really quickly. I'm currently deep into the Ego stuff but the husqvarna stuff looks pretty good.

I’ve recently bought the Stihl HLA86 and I agree that the system to turn it on can be a pain. I like the look of that Husqvarna, the handle at the back looks like it would be really handy.

The stihl with an ap300s is slightly lighter than the husky with bli200 take off the d handle its lighter., the vents on the back of the husky are all for show as well there is nothing venting the battery so they are just scamming there. The main parts of both heads are metal and otherwise same areas are plastic, the "handle" on the husky head is handy some times though... 🤔
