I wish I got tree service wood like that! The last time I got some they dropped off big, rotted, ant infested junk. I was cutting up a bunch of very dry Ash yesterday and OMG was it tough going, a 8-10" limb took me forever to get through even with my 462, I think its time for a new chain lol My 462 does the same thing noodling but my little Husquvarna 350 doesnt seem to clog up at all.

Try the West Coast Cover Jeremiah……it’s a bit flashy, but sure gets the noodles out better than the Stihl cover……less stopping and pulling out noodles next to a hot/sharp chain. IMHO. Looks like you Tree service’s are doing well by you 🪵👍👏🇺🇸
@outdoorsinthe608
@outdoorsinthe608 2 ай бұрын
Maybe you know… it seems like the noodles get clogged up on the original chain catch, should I remove it because I have the chain catch on the dawgs? Thanks Rick👍👊
@Living-The-Dream
@Living-The-Dream 2 ай бұрын
@@outdoorsinthe608 I wouldn’t remove it Jeremiah….that is all you have to keep that chain from coming back on you. It’s just a pinch point cause the original cover is compressed at that point. That is why is suggested the West Coast cover…..it’s wider and larger…..allowing the chips and noodles to pass through easier. While still allowing full use of the larger dogs and chain catcher. They are a touch expensive but I have found worth it…..I actually think it even helps the saw run a bit cooler and stays cleaner around the clutch area. Probably best to see what a Pro say’s…..I’m just a firewood guy. 🤓😎👍

I have a few on my property. Couple of them though aren't looking so good this year. One of them is a monster probably 40-50 inch and last year had leaves this year not so much still not like others I have. I have a bunch that I need to get around to felling that the bark is coming off in 5-10 foot strips. I did take a few out here last month but these other ones are pretty close to sheds or garages I have and are pretty massive so I haven't touched them yet but they need to come down before they do on their own. I have 3 others that are around 8-10 inch behind my body shop that still seem to be alive and well though. There is whole areas around here though that everything is dead and its almost all ash. So much firewood. Couple miles away from here there is a stretch where its mostly ash and everything real dead that has to be at least a few hundred acres. I have flown over it in a hot air balloon before. I don't know who owns that land but there is a hell of a lot of firewood that should come out of there now before all that ash is no good for anything.

Does anyone know if the Ash Borer hit Michigan worse or sooner than other states? I haven't cut any Ash in a couple years and when I did get it, it had always been dead for a while. I remember cutting dead Ash with my Dad 25 or 30 years ago. Not many around anymore. Nice video by the way!

I think Michigan is way further along in the Ash Borer destruction. More than likely this tree was treated for years, not many alive ash trees around here. Thanks Ben👍👊
