Finally people gonna see why the 400c is a rockstar for its weight and size. They’re such good saws after porting

Might even call it... "The best 60cc class chainsaw you can buy"
@Houseworksaws8 ай бұрын
@@Leave_Nothing_Stock yeah seriously they are such a joy to use as a daily work saw. Truly impressive.. after I got mine back from Wisconsin I sold my 462’s simply because the 400 felt so lite and more nimble. Cut speed wasn’t all that different.

@Houseworksaws it's pretty high on my to buy list now that I've done a couple recently. Not a small saw person, in case I haven't said that enough, but these things are damn impressive. More than likely, it'll be a $1300 investment that sits on the shelf 350+ days a year and only comes down on the rare occasion that I need it up in a tree. Still want one tho...
@Houseworksaws8 ай бұрын
@@Leave_Nothing_Stock Well you likely still have bigger wood where you are. NH was 80% clear cut by 1820 then it was all cut off again around 1900 so by now with the harsh winters the hardwoods are slow growers. I short bar all my stuff anyways to save weight so 20-24” is my most used bar size.
@Leave_Nothing_Stock8 ай бұрын
@Houseworksaws definitely different environments, bigger trees and cutting at 4-7000 feet of elevation...i did however just have a guy from NH send me some cash to order and build a new 881 for him...not sure what the hell he's gonna do with it, but it should look real nice on his shelf

Hell yeah you got her! Good work. It sucks it was such an expensive fix, but it's running damn good!

Hey, Boedy. I had the exact same issue with an ms362. I got it on trade and knew nothing about it. It looked like it had a ton of hours on it. I found that the bore for the throttle shaft was egg-shaped, and it was creating a vacuum leak. What's fucked up in your situation is that the saw was new. Tough but valuable lesson. Happy to see the 400 running like it should.

The amount of time, effort and funds involved was ridiculous, but now that saw and Ethan's work really shines! Yeah, that'll be a tough one to hang with in the 60cc class👍🏻

That 400 sounds pretty rowdy! I think with good sharp chain its gonna smoke the 562. Nice work!

I am not a Stihl guy at all but the 400 is a super solid saw. Power to weight is the best all around of all brands. That is coming from a Husky guy.

Definitely want to see the 400 vs 562 mk II. The price difference is still crazy considering I could buy the 562 mk II and have it ported for the price of the 400c lol

Had my 400 for a year now. It is an awesome saw the only mod I did was replace the decomp with a plug it was leaking.

Best Hp to Wt of any saw on the market is the 500i, second is the 400. Ported who knows but sounds good. Glad you got it running. More than I can say about my 562! lol 👍🏼

theres a new 400 coming from stihl. ms 400.1. Supposedly 62cc with heated handles as an option. i guess the old 400 didnt sell as well as stihl thought. maybe later this year or early next. listed on several european shops already.
@christopherlehman40456 ай бұрын
No “new” 400 coming and they wouldn’t reduce the cc from 67 to 62. Would be far more likely to see a improved 362 with larger displacement and a mag alloy piston.

That saw is running good. I dont think the 562 mkII will keep up with it but it will be close. I would be tickled to death with either one. Though the price on the Husky does make it very attractive in comparison to the Stihl.

The problem with the 400c is that it does just about everything well. And under 30 inches, it does very well. This is problematic to the Sthil lineup. They did so well that they were losing sales on their other models. 261 and 400c are an epic partnership. Arborist.

@@Super-Dave-Outdoors I’m running a 400$ Grizzly I found on MP 2 years ago. I’ve bought lots of tooling and upgrades for it along the way but man it opened my world up. I recently bought a mill to go with it and now the possibilities are endless. When you can BUY ONE it will be the best thing you’ve bought in a long time

Given the choice of the 562 MKII or the MS400 it is the 400 all the way. Husky has a long long way to go yo convince me that 5 series are sorted out.
