Finally the ms 400c arrived in the nordic countries!
I'm so excited to try this saw but until I can make a full review here are my first thoughts.
IG @femalelumberjack I'll be posting frequent pics and videos with the saw.

My 20” Stihl 391 melts through logs kzbin.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 but I find myself grabbing this Oregon more because it’s quit and theirs no engine maintenance. You still need to maintain the chain and bar though. It cuts great even though it doesn’t have the power or weight of a gas saw, and the bucking spikes work really well, almost too well actually. I actually burnt up the motor on my first one using the bucking spikes. I pushed it too much through cottonwood, but I liked it enough to buy a second one. I make sure not to get the motor too hot now and it’s been running great. It’s still heavy enough with enough power to melt through most cuts too. When it stops cutting so well make sure there aren’t wood chips stuck in the chain and don’t let the chips clog the saw. Remember when you see sawdust instead of chips it’s time to sharpen the chain. I tried the self sharpening, I didn’t think it worked that well. I like that when you let go of the trigger the chain stops almost immediately. It’s tool less adjustment and bar removal is a snap. Like all saws they leak bar oil, so don’t store it full, and open the cap just a little to prevent pressure from ambient temperature changes. I store it on a piece of cardboard on a tote lid to contain any mess. Make sure you get some bar oil with the saw, it comes with just enough for you to start cutting but run out before you’re finished with whatever you’re cutting.

I've been using the 400 for 3 months now on a 18 inch bar and Square tooth chain it's an amazing saw. I was using a ms 462 but just wanted something a bit lighter for limbing.For anyone who is thinking about getting this saw, you won't be disappointed

Had a few days on a ms400 lately and i have slowly fallen in love with it, i find it well balanced , good throttle response, and a big step up from the 362 as it seems to have much more power, i am sure you will feel the same about it as i cant see anyone not liking that saw, i will wait for your verdict !!

I love my ms 360 which is about the same size. I have never seen a 400C at my local dealers. I do have a MS 241 CM but I am not a fan of the Memtronic system. I know how to tune my saws for various temperatures and I do not need a one size fits all system to tell me how to run my saws. I like the lesser weight because my ms 440, 460 and 660 are a tad heavy.

Thank you for showing that! That is the first view I've had of it. I wonder if it will be as difficult to get in the US as the 500i was when it came out? Of course, this creates many problems. Is that a paper air-filter? I suspect those will have to be replaced frequently and that may be a significant cost over time. I much prefer the ever lasting old style air-filters that one would simply disassemble and clean from the inside out with compressed air.

I was wondering. I want to start a little firewood business and am looking for a saw. I was thinking about the 261 but I think it would be too small to fell and cut up all of the trees. So I was thinking either the 362 or the 400. What would you recommend?
@Femalelumberjack
@Femalelumberjack 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the size of the trees. You could easily cut 24” trees with a 261

Its like a heavy 362. I will hold on to my 460 rather than pay what they want for a 500i. A 460 in good shape practically does my taxes. Wait are these just running the TS400 KPL cylinders?

I assume that this saw is a non-M-Tronic since there is no M in the model number??? As in MS400 C, and not MS400 C-M?? Didn't get a look at the air filter cover on its left side in the video.

@@Femalelumberjack The 560 is a 60cc saw with good power to weight. It's been around for a few years, and is a proven performer in the 60cc range. We actually never got them in the USA, but instead have the Jonsered version 2260. The 400c looks nice. I wasn't a fan of the 362, and would rather run the 261.
