If you dont know how much saw you need then you definitely don't need no 500i. Unless you cut timber or alot of firewood or have a sawmill or equipment and stuff of some kind then theres no point in having a pro grade saw from a 362 up unless you just like saws! I run a woodmizer and have a excavator and cut boat loads of wood and my 362 is my baby along w a 441 that's plenty of saw to keep a big mill fed with a good excavator swinging wood and loading trailers I used a 500i for about 3 weeks and kept having bolts back out in 2 different spots. My 362 and 461 have been through the absolute ringer and I'd take them through the gates of hell right now

Though I heard you say "all the way down" on your start of the 362 for second cutting, suggesting full choke. Perhaps I wrong. I've never choked it beyond my first start for the day. I've flooded it if I did, and ended up pulling the plug and cranking about 5X to clear the cylinder. Anyway, I use a chisel chain for the most part, both in felling and bucking, and would likely appreciate the extra HP of the 400 over the 362. I have both a 362 and a 261 for the bulk of my bucking work, and a to fell the big boys, a 441 magnum that's getting heavy for this old guy. The relative lighter weight of the 400 really appeals to me. Now to convince my wife........

Had a ms362 and i was never impressed with power of it, my brothers ms290 was almost as fast as it was, that 400 looks nice though, i like how stihl bates you into wanting to move up in power with so many models, i just went all out and got a 462 so I don’t have to keep moving uo every few months, that saves money to just get the biggest the first time.

Alot of people in the comments lose focus of what the video is about and would rather argue about technical aspects of how you hold the saw or what bar and chain you're using. I think it was a fine video and your technique is your own. Dont let keyboard experts dictate what you do or how you do it. You can't please them. As for the saws, both look very capable. I could easily see the ms400 replacing the 362 in the pro lineup.

Cheers man. Thanks for the video, i love chainsaws. Here in the video you describe more like your feelings about the saws, not much of a real measurement. Yet it is still helpful. I think better would be to have same bar and chain and also to have a new saw "broken in" (having run through couple of tanks of gas prior). But i understand that giddy feeling when getting a new "toy".. I got a 362 and love it with 25 bar, it is light, quick and nimble and yet powerful enough for what i do (i mostly cut limbs / trees that are already fallen on the ground because of storms and that means messy environment of entangled limbs, trunks etc), for bigger stuff i use 462 with 36 oregon bar. Looking at sheets, the ms 400 looks really interesting. I hope you gonna have fun with it, stay safe.

@@CarlsmowerThe rule of thumb is to divide the cc's of one's saw by three and that's one's bar length. For example the Stihl ms 400c is 66cc, 66 divided by three is 22. A 22" bar is perfect for the 400c, 👍💪🪓🌲🇮🇪

As a representative dealer you should really demonstrate the proper way to run a saw. There’s no such thing as a left or right handed saw, so you should be running it the way it’s supposed to be with right hand on controls. This is due to handlebar angles ect for safety of operator if a kickback happens.
