@richardflagg308410 ай бұрын
He was concerned about his oil as well. I told him this had nothing to do with lubrication. Plain and simple it was a manufacturing defect. The plating shouldn't have lost it's bond with the cylinder.
@TheRustyGarageandHomestead10 ай бұрын
@richardflagg3084 good to hear well besides the defect. I'll try and keep an eye on my 660 clone I just built with the hyway cylinder. Probably a good idea to stick the bore scope down its throat a few times just to see how it's all doing

I got a 46mm hw closed port + windowed piston for my 55 I read and read the ad I hope like hell it’s not plated. I already knew NOT to get that one.. both my 55’s run so it’ll be sitting in the box it came in till I can get a donor that needs a top end.. what sucks is, I found a seller on eBay with a Meteor Partner/ 55, closed port, but it’s 45mm. I think it’s also a non windowed piston.. not sure.
@johnm889110 ай бұрын
So essentially a new 460 less the carb, crank and a few other parts for around $500 after the friend discount. Not bad!

Hyway. I know some have gotten good service out of theirs. Unfortunately, the plating on this one was not right.

Just exactly what I expected… dang… I did want a 160 $ 365… because I’m in no man’s land ENC between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach. You can’t live here unless you bring your debt and everybody with a credit score is just flipping houses around and living on the fat… it’s practically all sub 120’ pine here so even a 365 371 ~ 44/66 is DEFINITELY overkill. I knew these things weren’t nothing but cases. but dang btt I would order a 365 (I’ve never even seen one/ grin factor for $160 in funny money) and wait 4/5 months for it to get here… I’m starting to see better options in just waiting for something to come up on fleabay. I knew if I was going to get one I was going to rip off the top end and carb anyway. I figured I’d buy used parts on the bay from someone doing a big bore and just snag those parts.. but I think it was a video of yours, talking about cast bar studs, now this.. thanks for posting this its just more food for thought maybe I won’t be shipping funny money, if I ever see it again anyway.. maybe I won’t be so fast to send it to china so they can send me their melted down trash in return.. I may just hold out for a used and abused one.. those “cases” plus the “extras” aren’t looking like such a deal after all. Looks like I’d be playing the “whats next to break?!” game if I got a Chusky.. or a Stihlna… dang.. looks like I won’t be shipping my shi t dollar to china after all. dang it

I can't understand why the starter paws and the starter spring or so tiny like my top handle saw which is the 193T My 038 mag has large starter paws and a large dull spring
@richardflagg30846 күн бұрын
038 was built when everything was heavy duty. Your 193T only uses one pawl and the 60-80cc saws use two. Homeowner and firewood saws see a fraction of the work of commercial units. either way they are a wear part. It's just a matter of time til it needs to be replaced.
@michaelwier63156 күн бұрын
@richardflagg3084 hey I don't mean to burst your bubble but my 038 mag has two paws on it and again they need to start building stuff that's overbuilt and not this flimsy little garbage they charge in arm and a leg for

@@michaelwier6315 I don't mean to burst your bubble , but that's the new business model. 😎 Buy more parts and replace saws more often. New models are fancy but definitely not the workhorses of old.

Hi Richard yeah looks like an obvious defect from the manufacturing process of the cylinder. But I am questioning myself about oil and gas, my dumb self keeps thinking oil separating/ settling from the gas once mixed, really a guy could take 250ml flasks filled with fresh mixed gas/oil (oils of different brands/same gas) rubber stop them and just let them sit for a week so you could visibly look at them to see if there was any separation? if there is separation after a bit of time with the mix and a guy forgets to shake up the mix b4 use that could also heat up a cylinder and cause catastrophic damage. it would be an interesting test

@richardflagg308410 ай бұрын
Definitely a manufacturing defect. Plating shouldn't loose it's bond with the aluminum.
@davesteier-xf5lh10 ай бұрын
Yeah but you’re assuming that for quality am parts.. I read up on hyway cylinders, went down the rabbit hole… and after so many i just quit. It’s just like the clone saws; if you can’t trust them with a simple part like the on/off for a Husky then they probably cheaped out on their “premium” options too. I would expect plating on a Stihl oem or Meteor but would probably trust a hyway or rebrander like Dukes as far as I can throw it.. they’re all getting their parts from somewhere everybody and their brother isn’t casting cylinders all of a sudden. These people get these parts like a steak is “choice”. That means the butcher was there and labeled it. Duke ain’t casting no parts I guarantee it. And the tons and tons of $20 cylinders are coming fom somewhere too.. they just aren’t the “choice” ones reboxers are picking. I stink eye ALL cheap china parts
