Thank you for this great review. I am transitioning from gas to battery. I have a Toro Timemaster, which I am happy with. I just purchased the RMA 510V and the KombiMotor 135R, which will replace my gas KombiMotor. Again, thank you!

Hi Paul! I love your site and find your videos very informative; keep up the good work! What would you recommend for a battery powered multi-head rig? Any general thoughts on the motor up with the battery vs. down by the head?
@PaulSikkema4 жыл бұрын
With the battery at one end and the motor at the other the trimmer is balanced so it is a lot less tiring if you have a lot of trimming to do. Multi-head units have the drive shaft running down through the entire unit. That takes more power and the battery will not last as long. It has it's advantage if you need a light duty edger, long handled hedge trimmer or pole saw but don't bother with the blower attachment. They are pretty wimpy even when on a gas unit. You'll be a lot happier with a stand-alone leaf blower.

Great review - thanks! Comparing the 510 vs. Greenworks Pro at Costco.

I was going to buy the Stihl mower, until I found out the atlas mower at harbor freight is the exact same mower (battery slot is different). Even with a charger and battery from harbor freight, you still save money. Don’t get me wrong, I love my stihl trimmer but was shocked to see Stihl just rebranding the mower. Btw, Lowe’s kobalt mower is the same (80 volt). The atlas is still cheaper.

Yes, Stihl owns a share of Greenworks. Greenworks also makes the Kobalt and a few other inexpensive brands for retailers like Harbor Freight. But - and a big but - will Harbor Freight support that mower 2-10 years down the line? Stihl will. Does Harbor Freight use the same high quality European Lithium-Ion cells in their batteries that Stihl uses or are they using Chinese copies. In other words, if you just want to buy a cheap mower there are plenty available - but in this market you get what you pay for.

The deck/chassis is the same; the motor on the Atlas is much cheaper. Max rpm on the Atlas is 2850; max on the Stihl is over 3200. Stihl batteries/chargers are far superior. Warranty on the Atlas is HF's usual 90 days; Stihl's is 3 years. Greenworks makes mowers for different entities, but they make them to much different specs, depending on the customer's desires.

Hi paul i was wondering how you would compare the fsa 90 r trimmer to the toro 60v trimmer as far as power ,run time,weight .Many thanks .
@PaulSikkema3 жыл бұрын
The FSA 90 R is a commercial trimmer and there is no real comparison to the Toro residential 60 V MAX. The FSA 90 R is a little heavier but the build quality is so much better than the residential trimmers. It feels like a commercial trimmer The FSA 90 R really has the power of a good Stihl gas trimmer. You can go out back and cut 24 inch bluegrass and orchard grass without it slowing down at all. The smaller battery in the video will run the BSA 85 blower for a good 45 minutes wide open. I've never come close to running out of battery trimming my 1 acre yard with the FSA 90 R. The FSA 90 R has a 9 step dial so you can reduce the power for normal trimming and save even more battery! The FSA 90 R has the standard Stihl head. It's pretty much bulletproof and I've had the heads last 15 years on the gas units. It's not a quick-load head but it will hold twice as much line as the quick-loads. Have the dealer show you how to load it and it will never wrap line inside the head. Use the Sthil line and one spool may just last you all season.

Hi Paul got this Stihl 510 cause of your video! I just don't know why I can't take the battery out to charge it 😫
@PaulSikkema2 жыл бұрын
I suggest taking it back to the dealer have them look at it. I would guess the battery latch is not moving quite far enough or there is a small defect with the battery rack in the mower. Stihl is very good at making it right - quickly.

Paul, Do you know, when removing the blade for sharping, is the screw[or bolt] right or left threaded? Also, do you know the best site on the web to buy a replacement blade? Thanks for this well presented and informative video.
@PaulSikkema3 жыл бұрын
The blade bolt is the standard "righty tighty - lefty loosely" I recommend going back to the dealer to get a replacement blade. Stihl sells very little online and relies on their large dealer network to get you the right parts. Universal or generic blades won't give you the excellent mowing and mulching capabilities this mower is capable of. The dealer may have to order the blade. If you need it sooner check with other Stihl dealers in your area.

This or the new EGO? That’s what I’m debating for my 1 acre property.
@PaulSikkema4 жыл бұрын
For me, it's this one or the Toro 60 volt.
@slicktype0014 жыл бұрын
Paul Sikkema - would you ever consider doing a head to head with all 3? Demonstrating the grass cutting abilities, run time, mulching capabilities etc.? That would be pretty cool as I do not believe that anyone on KZbin has done this comparison as of yet.
@PaulSikkema4 жыл бұрын
I have a few videos using the Toro and there are so many EGO fanatics that there are already plenty of videos of the 2020 EGO mower. That said, there are a lot of people who bought the SnowJoe electric snow thrower last year and I'm thinking of testing their mower instead of the EGO. Watch my videos of the Toro and then watch this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6S4e5WjZ8iIpcU You'll buy the Toro :)
