My Stihl 025 has only one pawl. It has lasted 43 years until now.

I've a Sihl 311Y. Seems to old have one pawl, and the spring is made for just one. I can't figure out what is supposed to make the pawl swing out when you pull the cord. Mine won't unless I hold the spring in the center with my finger and pull the cord. Then of course the spring stays still and the pawl swings out. Spring seems tight enough but I guess its not. The parts are worn and I'd like to replace them, but unfortunately the 311Y must be rare because I can't find parts anywhere. Know of a source?

Very cool info I think I like that setup better than on my Poulan saw!

I've had some Craftsman/Poulan saws in the past. If you take care of them, they'll serve you well. Zip~

I only seem to have one Pawl on my Stihl 021. Is that the way it should be for ambler chainsaws or am I missing the second one and a clip that will expand each when being pulled? Thx
@ZippoVarga7 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig. There should be two, but often, when one fails, the one remaining will do the job until repairs can be made. Good luck! Zip~

Mine only has one, and I got it used but virtually UNused. It was clearly always one pawl.

My pawls are stuck. I can’t get them out. I imagine I have to replace the whol pull starter? It’s also hard to pull to start. Suggestions?

This topic was hard to find as too many video pop up about carbs. You may have just saved me hours of head aches thanks. Hey, you know hat drills now come with 2 speeds, one for mechanical work and the other for drilling as well as impact settings. They also come with a ratchet drive, set you ratchet somewhere between 4 and 6 and you will not over torque. Same as you would driving drywall screws.

That is a nice saw. I too sometimes just go for it then realize I hadn't filmed it. OK I have told all my small engine buddies that I won't do any more 2 stroke stuff as my neck can't handle all the yanking of the rope and what do I do I take in a 7 year old 270 that runs like crap. I am my own worst enemy. I think it is the fuel line . As you know they are prone to that. It may fool me but i will try ti film it hahaha
@ZippoVarga8 жыл бұрын
Replacing the fuel/vent lines is relatively strait forward, but there's a lot of disassembly involved. One I would rather not have to do again was my MS200T!! That was a bear...but, it's got a new line and vent, although, that wasn't the issue, as I later learned. The O ring on the fuel cap was cracked, not letting the tank seal, causing it to run like crap. So check that first!! Cheers my Northern Friend! Zip~

Nice video, but who cares about your impact drivers.
@ZippoVarga7 жыл бұрын
lol....Well James....When one gets a new tool (toy) that they REALLY like, they tend to talk about it. This was the case, and still IS the case every time I pick one of them up. I'd apologize, but if you've been around my videos any length of time, I babble on while providing what I feel is valuable content. Just keeping it real, more or less. But, I WILL Thank You for the props on the video! Glad you were able to almost overlook my excitement with impact drivers. They've really cut down my repair times, which I pass along when repairing things for others. Sorry to babble on, But...That's me! lol Cheers James! And again, thanks for hanging in there through my ramblings. Zip~
