I’ve ran chainsaws all my life. If I was buying a new chainsaw today it would be a Husqvarna XP chainsaw. They just run & the torque is amazing.

I love my 562xp it’s a great firewood saw for me I had a576 before it but wanted a smaller saw I could take 4wding and camping so I got a short bar for it to fit in a case I carry on the roof. I like the size, weight and power of the saw. They are all great saws. Good vid👍

I have a Husky that I bought new 30 years ago. I don't cut much firewood anymore, but used to cut for myself and my father-in-law. Other than replacing the air filter, spark plug, bar and chains the only thing I have done is replace the carb. I hadn't used it in 2 years and when I went to use it, the carb was gummed up from sitting with fuel in it. It has been a good saw, it has always started easily and run well.

Adam, you ran 5 great saws in this video and any single one of these would be great to have. I am into Stihl simply because I have two dealers less than 10 miles from me. Regarding saw brands Echo, Husqvarna, Stihl etc are all quality products and I would have no issue with owning any of these.

I simply prefer Husqvarna saws. How they operate, feel and cut. I've run all the Stihl Pro line also and simply prefer Husky...not that they're "better" but that I prefer them.

Great video, comparison was on point!….when I started with chainsaws I had all stihl, the dealer was close by…they all ended up with carb problems….ended up traveling farther to the husky dealer and bought one…never had a problem with it….I think I have like 14 of them now, mostly 395’s and 372’s, they are bar none the best saws ever made, I have a couple 572’s, that’s a great saw also….but nothing for nothing you only need those 372’s and 395’s….they had that supply chain problem couple years ago and no one had the 372, once the dealer got them in and called I bought two more, still never used them yet…372 is the truly the only one saw you ever would need!

Great video Adam. Short and to the point. The Husqvarna did seem and "did" cut faster - but I wonder if the weight of the saw have anything to do with it. I like having a lighter saw over heavy. Thank you also for having new chains for the comparisons - it shows just how evenly match and also - using the same fuel in all 4 saws. The only thing I wonder if the Stihl might cut faster with Stihl Fuel. I doubt it, but Just a thought. Thanks for sharing.

Adam, we had a set up growing up with a table we could buck on and roll straight to the splitter so you aren’t dropping and having to pick rounds up. Great comparison, but you left out price. Most of these saws are beyond what I can talk myself into spending on a saw. I have a 14 inch Ryobi I have used for years, cut over a dozen cords of wood with it, bucking logs and climbing, wore out 2 chains and a bar and it still gets the job done. Cost me $99. I also have an 18 in Poulan Pro which I find to be lower in quality but for $179 it has definitely earned it's keep, too. I wonder how Stihl & Husky compare to these cheaper brands.

For me the weight is more important than the couple of seconds of cutting time. I’m not running a firewood business that the time would add up. I need an all around saw. My 024 Wood Boss is perfect for my needs. Tell Doug not to hit the rakers too hard, I usually take one pass every other time I do a hand touch up. Looks like a fun day!

Hi Adam: If you like the 585- give the 592XP at try. Pro series saws are not rated on the CCs, there rated on their build quality and design to be used everyday.

I only cut firewood that is rarely bigger than 18'' I run both Stihl and Husky. I have a ported 550XP that runs faster than my 357XP so I cut with that the most as it light. For the big stuff, I use my MS462 which I think is the best saw in its class and the same weight almost as a 562.

Same chain types on all saws, right? Great comparison of the various saws out there that a pro homeowner might consider for high production firewood cutting. When I'm out on trail crew, I really like the 291 over the 462, just for the weight. When hauling a saw over 5 miles of trail, weight can be more than power / cutting speed. If I were to be cutting dozens and dozens of rounds of firewood, weight may be less an issue and raw cutting speed may be more of a consideration.

@Adam: was that MS462 ported? I saw the sticker on the back, and it didn't sound stock. Either way, you couldn't go wrong with any of those saws. I have a muxture of Husqvarna, Stihl, and Echo saws. My current favorites are my 346xp, 550xp, 562xp, and my MS462. They each have a unique personality. But having saws from 25cc - 91cc is nice when you routinely tackle a wide range of both species, and sizes of firewood. Keep your chains sharp, cut safe, and keep having fun!

It's been a couple years now so they might have fixes the issue...but husky had crank bearing issues on all their 5 series saws....I warranty replaced at least 100 blown up huskys in a year. They honored the warranty and replaced the saws but at the time it was taking a few weeks to get in replacement saws, didn't even have any to sell new off the shelf because every one we got in had to go for warranty replacement. Felt bad customers had to wait weeks without their $1k chainsaw

That’s a lot you logs man. You should consider renting a big professional processor for a couple days and getting Doug and your dad to give you a hand. That would put a dent in your log piles for sure. I just don’t want to watch a video in the next couple of years about how much logs you lost because you couldn’t process them on time.

To me there is a couple more important factors than speed and weight. Another important one is vibration, with heavy saws or any kind of hand power tools. If you carry a tool around a lot of vibration will cause just as much fatigue and soreness as weight. Another kinda important thing is how far away is the closets dealer, being able to get parts more or less when you need them, is a big help when you are in the middle of something and something breaks or needs changing. Having to delay to next day or longer can be a big pain in the a**. That 572 though on just power and weight, seems to be a pretty good ballance between power and weight. It definitely cut fast. I wouldnt carry the extra weight of the 585 unless I REEEEEALY had too

I've been using a chainsaw since 1974. Not for a living but on and off as needed. I've used every sharpening gadget known to man. I tossed them all and strictly hand file now... no guides, no gadgets. And I follow Buckin' Billy's "Get the Gullet" method. It is far and away the best sharpening method there is. So if you want to go back to sharpening school check out Buckin's videos on how to "Get the Gullet". Probably has a dozen videos. Worth watching at least several of them. Buckin' kinda drives me nuts but the man can flat out sharpen a saw.

They’re all nice saws. Cutting gear makes a difference. Having a local dealer is important when you need something. I just do my own firewood and property work; I have a Stihl MS261c and run an 18” bar and it does all I need it to very well. Huge step up over the 455 Rancher I had before. I haven’t felt the need for a larger saw. I definitely like a lighter weight saw for operator fatigue though.

Doug is 100% right. The Stihl 2 in 1 sharpener will take the depth gauge too much for the tooth. Tell Doug to remove the raker file and file the teeth as usual and file the rakers down by hand separately. He will have a much better cutting chain. And by the way i returned one of the Stihl sharpner because of that same reason and got another one. Both sharpeners were the same. I have had both Stihl and Husky saws, and both are great saws. I'm currently running a MS261 and I love it. Nice job on the video.

The Husky pro saws start one pull all day, and three maybe four the first start of the day... Embarrassing for your Stihl saws! All the bs aside, from 1978 until today I've seen Stihl and Husqvarna go head to head... for a couple years, one will be better then the other, then it changes... I'm not sure Husqvarna can get much better now... My Stihls had to go, I got tired of pulling on them... Great Video... See if Mike will do a rematch with you!!! Ucel's video, which is biased and the winner was predetermined. Husqvarna was given in advance, like a knight. Paid!

I don't know why everybody wants to cheat Stihl chainsaws and run her mouth about still my Stihl chainsaw would blow everyone of them husqvarna's out of the water

Your time test is flawed. You used the smallest saw at the largest part of the tree, so as the saw's got bigger your log was smaller., of course they'll go threw the log faster. I demand a redo :)

If the chain on Doug’s saw was better sharpened so it didn’t bite so hard I’d say it would be on par with the 585

You ended with the smallest diameter wood for the biggest saw that’s why it was faster!

The 400 didn’t want to perform to her fullest capacity while you were wearing the husqvarna hat. I don’t blame it!
