Electric is probably fine for most homeowners. But I have real concerns about repairing these new tools. Has Stihl committed to producing spare parts for a number of years? Lots of us have been burned in the past with technology products being told after 4 years or so “sorry we don’t make that model anymore. You need to get a new unit.”
@Stihl3 ай бұрын
We definitely take these concerns very seriously. The supply of spare parts for many years, sometimes decades, is a cornerstone of STIHL and of course also applies to all battery-powered devices.

Placing a date of manufacture on the batteries would be good

Could you guys please make your safety switches on your battery equipment a little easier to deal with. I hate when I let go of the trigger and I have to return it back on at least give a timer of five minutes like especially your battery top handle chainsaw and the new MSA 300 chainsaw. I hate that you have to hit the on button every time you let go of the safety trigger. Otherwise the equipment is amazing.

Hello! Thank you for your comment! The MSA 140 is an AK System device which cannot be used with an AP battery. This device is only compatible with an AK System battery.

All these lithium ion batteries suck in extreme temps. Doesn’t matter if it is an electric car, drill, chainsaw, whatever. Especially in the cold these batteries lose a lot of capacity.

For professional use in the urban environment I think battery is the way forward. Don't throw away the quality petrol machines they are essential. But, battery machines are a real game changer.

The batteries "dont lose power during operation" Next... "when the battery or tool gets hot, or cold it drops power to protect itself". Funny how they did not mention how little run life each battery has... At work on the rail way the guys threw these on the floor and sat in the sun all day, thousands and thousands of pounds of battery's were done before lunch, if used constantly. These new tools are good if you only do spurts of work. Nobody likes carrying 30 kg of battery's just to find them dead. Nobody wants to charge them or carry them down track after a hard days work. Managers had to rotate the duty and constantly keep on top of the system, more work less output for all new money. Stihl petrol saws from 20 years ago did a better job.
