too funny after an all-nighter hunting-down what my choices are for receiving my BSP' Gate outsa, the light was off and it read, "Drill" in front of the first sentence. Holy Crap, I guess the unit is off my list if I have to break-out the drill bits to fix it. ;-) "Still" cross-faded into view just before my autopilot scroll thumb moved on. This unit is in the top three, with an asterisk "just DIY the drums"

303 and sh101 were budget instruments
@PostingCringeOnMain10 ай бұрын
The EDP Wasp was a budget, analogue synth that was practically a toy until it wasn't because Duran Duran, 808 State, Vince Clarke and The Stranglers started using them on studio album releases and in live sets. Then you have to acknowledge that the Juno line were the "budget" versions of Jupiters and the TB-303 wasn't exactly a premium product. Don't fall into the elitest "moar expensive is moar better" trap when considering what instruments may or may not become future classics because MicroKorgs currently sell for more than Tritons, despite one being a 20k 'fully professional studio suite flagship' model at launch and the other being purposefully kept affordable for the everyman.

@JH-lo9ut11 ай бұрын
This is what electronic cymbals sound like on most analog drum machines. When Roland designed the 909 they went through the effort to have the hi-hats be rom samples. That was a big deal back then, a completely new technology. Just a few years later, they made the drum machines completely sample-based, and analog drum machines were a thing of the past... Until the era of analog revival. So, when Arturia releases an analog drum machine in 2020, the point is that it is analog. It would be super weird if they did it like Roland back in the day, and had samples for the hi-hats but nothing else. (Roland did do this with the tr-8, wich has hi-hat samples. The machine can play samples, but it is limited to the "909 hats" and a certain set of 707 and 767 samples that you have to buy from Roland for an additional 100 bucks. Btw, those reissued 909 hi-hats are not the same samples as the original, but instead, Roland managed to dig out the very same old cymbals and made new recordings of them)

I’ve been looking around for a drum machine to go with my mpc because I like to sample my own drums from different sources and layer them with other sounds to beef them up. Was looking into the volca units which I like but going that route I know I’m going to need multiple units to achieve what I want. I want to be able to jam on a unit and track that into my daw. Think this might be my next choice
