I've been playing the 2023 fan version this week. Still plays well! Forgot how to do that overhead flick though! Very rusty.

Before PS1 Winning Eleven, this is the best Soccer game in that generation. Sadly Sega did not further develop the Gameplay.

I prefer World League Soccer 98 or J.League Pro Soccer Club Wo Tsukurou! 2 (best graphics on Saturn)

Is it me or does it sound like the bar is low? Even Virtua Striker 2 is doing my head in. It's not a football game, it's a brawler! Fair play, Visual Concepts totally turned the tide for Sega Sports with the 2K series. Sports became a strength on the Dreamcast, first up with the superb Virtua Tennis (that started on the Saturn?) and then the great NBA2K and apparently great NFL2K games. NHL 2K had its issues. The CPU was a cheat! At least they had the real names. The best Silicon Dream had to offer was a discounted Stéphane Houiller flocking the red number 8 jersey of Anfield Football Club playing in a British 1st Division while the crowd sings You'll Seldom March On Your Own. Not quite Carling if you ask me. Nevermind, we've got Timbo, the legend himself Tim Henman, almost in the flesh in the excellent Virtua Tennis 2.
