In this one I try to figure out why My 2.4 ecotec’s cooling fan isn’t turning on when coming up to temp. Since what I did last video didn’t continue to work. Hopefully this time it stays fixed.😁

I would try the simple things first, like a stuck semi closed thermostat.

Sounds like you need an ECT sensor, I new someone w a 99 deville and his cluster was 50° off the actual temperature ( showed 160 but was actually running at 210 ) and his fans were coming on late, some coolant would come out the overflow, I think you have the same problem, sounds like you have a bad ECT, computer does also use ect for the guage, I don't kno if there'd be a 2nd switch for fan but on most gm cars I've worked on its been just the ECT for both engine temp and guage, most engines are supposed to run around 200°f then after 210 they'll turn the fan on low speed then high speed if reaches 220 and remain on high untill its down to 200, nice video!

It’s the engine temp sensor that’s not working it has nothing to do with the gauge inside the car,find the wire that signals the fan check it back to the ecu for continuity but don’t send power down it good luck

u know it comes on at 118 degrees CELCIUS Right!?!? thats about 250 degrees f. the on temp of 118 is the max temp, after 118 is reached with no fan you'll get a cel and maybe a reduced power mode to brighten your day.

Na it’s 118 degrees Fahrenheit. Check the 0:23 mark in the vid where I show the gauges inside. There’s an F next to the temp.

You need to get the wiring diagrams to trace the components to and from the computer.

I know on a Cruze there’s two temp senders, it’s very possible on the HHR as well.
