Resistance = arrest and charges and perhaps expulsion. There are so many that are not students or who are not Cdn citiz. The univ has protocols for no encampments so enforce them. I remember a night on the Mac Campus circa 1988 when I was walking alone from the pub to a residence when a group of about 8 white male undergrads started following at a short distance and taunted me with jungle-noises. Hatred for visible minorities has always been rampant on campuses, often with very little means for effective recourse.

Frustrating as it is, following the rule law is a laborious process that needs to done to reach a decision that cannot be challenged. Or, properly speaking, can be successfully defended if the university is taken to court over any decisions they make in dealing with the encampment. Although, if the police can verify someone is NOT a student or faculty member they should be charged with illegal trespass and legally barred from the university grounds and/or property.

With my very low expectations of the UofT President, he came across with some reasonable statements and he would not bend the knee. I agree due process needs to take place with suspensions and expelling students.
