I'd be remiss not to mention that we sadly lost Kevin Conry just a few days ago. I'm out of town and wasn't able to edit anything in to pay tribute as this video was scheduled to go live several days ago. Hopefully this is a good way to celebrate his work.

Rest in piece, Kevin Conroy. Yours was the first Batman voice I ever heard.

Don't worry. This video pays mad respect to Kevin. Great Retrospective. I love the Arkham games, and I think you hit the nails straight on the head here.

Honestly after city this is my second favourite in the series. I’m fine with the Batmobile but it was so lazy that they brought back Joker in Knight RIP Kevin Conroy.

This game reminded me of a quote from Watchman. When Rorschach gets arrested he tells everyone he's not trapped with the inmates they're trapped with him. Sure Joker and the Inmates took over the asylum but they're stuck with Batman.

I remember getting home from elementary school to spend hours playing this game. One of my favorite games of all time and a game that will have a special place in my heart. Great video Wayne 💙 and rest in peace Kevin Conroy 👑

I'd say Batman Arkham Asylum was arguably the first superhero game treated like a Triple-A game.

Great review! I had no idea the new ports of Asylum had this weird new lighting... I have many fond memories of Asylum, it really felt like it was made by people who loved the source material.

It's a passion project through and through, you can feel the heart in every cold, dank hall of the Asylum

My favourite too! I never understood the hate! The games story is fast paced and the minute to minute gameplay doesn't let up. A very awesome experience.

Was only playing the challenges a couple days ago, trying to get those last trophies I never got. Always loved Conroy's performance in the trilogy, he will be missed.

21:34-29:16 Question posed: Does Batman belong in Arkham just like the criminals that he's sent there? Answer: Perhaps, because Arkham Asylum in itself is sick, and instead of curing and rehabilitating them, it just makes them worse while also creating more monsters. Evidence to support this: The whole solitary confinement area where the psychopaths are kept, those who became more animalistic and just want to choke the life out of anyone they find. The villains also prove that this place isn't a place for them to be cured, but a temporary storing facility that just makes them worse. And seeing as Batman just keeps the cycle going, it proves that he probably deserves to be among the monsters.

Honestly the stealth sections are my favorite parts of the game, and are what got me interested in the stealth genre as a whole.

I love a well-designed stealth game. It's something I wish the newer Spider-Man games weren't so afraid to lean into more, but I figure they don't want to scare off players with no interest in stealth. At the same time, I sometimes thing it's a good thing to lead players into new styles or methods they're not used to so they can get a richer experience.

Arkham Asylum is my favourite game in that franchise and one of my favourite games of all time. Thank you for doing it justice. So glad you mentioned that the PS4 version somehow looks worse. The lighting and relative lack of detail, as mentioned, but also the colour vibrancy and saturation. It's like going from a comic drawn by David Finch to one drawn by Marcus To, both phenomenal artists, but with very different tones and aesthetics to their work.

And it may not be a deal-breaker to some players, but I always like to try and inform my viewers on the ideal ways to play whatever game I'm talking about! I'm glad I was able to bring some attention to the version differences!

I’d say the best Batman games that came out before the Arkham series was the Batman on both NES and Genesis, Return of the Joker, and Batman Returns on SNES. And those games played more like Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man, and Final Fight respectively.

Awesome review of an awesome game. The timing is oddly (and sadly) poignant, but this is a great way to highlight some of Conroy's best work. RIP to the best Batman.

Great video for a great game. I was surprised to see you mention that the PC version looks different to the Xbox 360/PS3 versions, as I thought it was based on their builds rather than the PS4/Xbox One Return to Arkham Builds. I think this one is my personal favourite of the series, with Origins being my 2nd favourite.
@Wayneisboss2 жыл бұрын
I actually need to look into that, because I could be mistaken about the PC versions. I mentioned it briefly in the video but while I do have the PC ports, I've yet to play those versions lol It's possible event he current PC versions are based on the original builds and not the Return to Arkham ones

There is the game of the year version on pc for both asylum and city which are the same as the ps3 and Xbox 360 versions rather than the dumb return to Arkham versions.
