I struggled hugely with fruit-inspecting myself to see if I was saved from 2010-2012, almost gave up Christianity out of sheer exhaustion in 2012, then continued having periods of deep spiritual depression and doubts right up to 2017. Praise God, He finally showed me the truth and simplicity of the gospel in 2017, that in Him, we are made righteous, I have been SEALED with the Holy Spirit. No longer do I look to myself to determine my state with God, but look to His SON for that assurance. He's faithful, so there's no need to fear or doubt.

@@joannecendana you really actually do have to give up. There is nothing that you can do to aid or add to your salvation. You really need to realize that Jesus did it all for you and just believe that. Being saved is not at all about behavior modification, as almost any church would have you believe. This has been on my heart, and in fact will be the subject of my teaching in a missions trip I will part of i the Philippines next month. So many people are under the false impression that leading a sinless life will ensure salvation. I am sure you would agree that we are called to grow and get victory over sin, but that victory is not how we achieve salvation, We have been saved through the actions of Jesus on the cross. I do hope that you won't be splitting the church over the NIV KJV nonesense. You need to teach the difference between justification and sanctification. Salvation from the consequences of sin is justification. Once you are saved, if you truly put your faith in Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour, your eternal life is in His hands ✋ ✋. Nothing can snatch you from His hands. Sanctification, on the other hand ✋, is a process in which we learn to reduce our sinning, or rather increase our Christlikeness. Hopefully, we will continue to become more like Jesus, but if we slip we cannot lose our salvation. May God bless and keep you.

I always wondered if my belief was correct and I think God finally answered my years of suffering. I was doing a Bible study called Redeemed, by Angela Pharr. In it she says the only way your belief isn’t enough, is if you are pretending. I know I’m not pretending so that seemed to answer adequately my long struggle. Other than that my life changed. My desires changed. I didn’t try to stop watching worldly stuff and music etc… it just happened. Cursing started stinging my spirit, sin started hurting my spirit, and fruits began to grow. Romans 11:21-24 'For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Is He saying fruit is doctrine or sinful deeds?

This splitting of the person leads to the error of those the preacher identified at the beginning. That of those who claim not to sin because the Bible says that those who believe in Jesus cannot continue sinning. Care must be taken to distinguish between the two natures and the difference between justification once and for all sins' consequences and sanctification, the process of growing in Christlikeness.

We as humans should love our enemies because we are no better than they are. To hate them would be hypocrisy. God who is perfect has the righteous standing to judge his creation with justice, which a human cannot do. See Matthew 18:21-35 for the illustration of this point. It is only by God's kindness that anyone is saved when all we humans deserve punishment. The question should not be, "why will God punish his enemies" but, "why will God not punish all of us for being his enemies". Everyone was once an enemy of God (Romans 5:8), and only by his grace is anyone rescued.

Your understanding is correct. What do you think The Master meant when He told us to take up our cross and follow Him? Where was He going? To be crucified. If we are His followers, we must crucify our fleshly nature daily and die to ourselves in surrender to Him as Lord. Jesus said to count the cost before you come to Him, He also said anyone who puts the hand to the plow and looks back is unfit to be one of His. Meaning if you decide to follow Him, but look back on your old ways in longing, you cannot be a follower of His because your heart is not with Him.

He's not advocating continuing in sin. Of course we *should* put off sinning, but that has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not we get into heaven. We will grieve the Holy Spirit when we sin, but he will never leave nor forsake us. Remember: Christ gives those who put their trust in Him the righteousness of Christ! So when the father looks at us, as far as justice is concerned, He sees the righteousness of Christ. It's truly been FINISHED by Jesus.

WHERE IS UNDERSTANDING THESE DAYS!!!! We keep on "sinning" everyone says. Its important to make a correct distinction between faults& falling short and the sins that lead to or make people "worth of death"(Rom.2:32). The sins unto death as listed in Gal.5:19-22 & 1Cor.6:9& Rom.1:29-32 lead to spiritual DEATH, ie disqualify one to be inheritors of the kingdom of God. Little sins as faults (e.g. getting annoyed, irritated, impatient, an angry reaction& the like) as recorded in book of James are not sins unto death. Yeah we ALL sin maybe even daily in this regard, but adultery, lying, stealing, fornicating, etc etc are the greater sins. Jesus said somewhere saying he that has the greater sin. Not all sin is the same or has the same consequence.
