✔️Phthalates: Some studies have suggested an association between exposure to phthalates, commonly found in fragrances and softeners in laundry detergents, and an increased risk of certain cancers. Phthalates are known endocrine disruptors and have been linked to hormone-related cancers such as breast and prostate cancer.
✔️1,4-Dioxane: This chemical is a byproduct of the ethoxylation process used to make certain surfactants in laundry detergents. Research has classified 1,4-dioxane as a human carcinogen. Prolonged exposure to 1,4-dioxane has been associated with increased cancer risk, particularly liver and kidney cancer.
✔️Formaldehyde: Some laundry detergents contain formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, which release small amounts of formaldehyde over time. Formaldehyde is classified as a known human carcinogen by the IARC and has been linked to leukemia and nasopharyngeal cancer.
✔️Fragrances and Dyes: Synthetic fragrances and dyes used in laundry detergents contain chemical compounds that have been associated with cancer risk. While direct evidence linking these additives to cancer is limited, some studies suggest potential carcinogenic effects, particularly with prolonged or high-level exposure.
