Steiner is truly large soul with wide body of knowledge and inner experience. Similar cosmic initiate as Nikola Tesla. Both were born just 5 years apart in Croatia (it was province of XIX century Austro-Hungarian Empire), geographically some 40 miles from each other. Both were educated in Austria, which was strong intellectual center with perfect ground to allow further development of true seekers. Steiner is massively under-appreciates, given the depth of his teachings. Quite similar as Tesla. Both gentlemen will be more and more recognized as times passes.

I agree strongly with your last sentence. The way the thinking of someone like C.G.Jung is dusted off these days and is freshly incorporated in modern day holistic thinking, that will eventually happen to Steiner too. And I think it will happen in the North American realm most strongly. As for Sting, some of his lyrics are most obviously metaphysical, but when you analyse his music, you will find a strange energy in the cords, an disconnectedness from regular structures. its not strange he had a connection with his wife who is probably the force behind their BD farm and antroposophy.

he didn't reject alcohol in general. It's true that he said that alcohol leads mankind away from the godly spirit but if you use it thoughtfully and you know how to handle it, alcohol can also be useful. The same for tobacco. Time for me to read this book :) On the topic of alcohol, I recall some passages in which he said something along the lines: "he who wants to become a christian mystic should abstain from drinking a single drop of water". Truth is that he also said something along the lines of " We would be on a bad way if the whole humanity would need to become clairvoyant ". Will try to find the references and share with you...

Yeah, the contradiction is that the whole work of Rudolf Steiner has as one of its main principles the development of the Individuality in order to bring newness to the world in all its aspects, and now there are many very "smart people" making wine out of the biodynamical insight that Rudolf Steiner offered. The messed up thing is that while they are supplying people that "want it" they are also obliterating the individuality, which is the one part that can allow the Logos to manifest through Human activity. In other words, the more alcohol, less freedom, less love, less truth.
