I listen to this when I exercise in the pool. With the doves cooing in the oak trees. My big Bangor cat sprawled on my towel. And wind in the palms.

the thing with Sting, is that his voice itself is another instrument, and so, the music can be simple and uncluttered, yet still be alive.

The segway to Walking on the Moon is quite jazzy, nice shifts from the pianist. Dominic is excellent, and has always brought something new to Sting's sound, although Andy is the reigning heavyweight champion.

Sting is a brilliant musician no doubt, there will never be someone quite like him, but there are definitely plenty of musicians who don't use auto-tune today. Check out Esperanza Spalding

Such imagery, so intimate, so guiding, Tea in the Sahara grants an invitation of simplicity and grace, genius for my loves, tea, dunes, melody, comforting, mysterious, exciting as enveloping as a cup a Tea to seek into!

I think Sting always had this sort of complexity and depth. The Police was Stewart Copeland's band, and Copeland wanted to rock. They fought over it often, but if you listen to them chronologically, they get jazzier as time goes on (as Sting influenced the band more and more with his own style). He's always been extremely picky about lyrics (hence why Copeland or Andy Summers had to sing a few songs). I agree with the comment about Sting and Collins being genius, though.

I too have always thought Sting (and a few others) have a natural gift for making music, GOOD music. I'm sure he would disagree but who else could use Mephistopheles in the lyric of a song, and make it sound...right? He's left his mark in the annals of popular music--and he should be proud of himself. One of my favorite musicians ever

A friend of mine at CALARTS once remarked "How did he (Sting) go from "Roxanne" to this?" level of complexity and depth? Another friend of mine in S Carolina (Jimmy Zellus) once declared that there are a few musical geniuses left..Sting, Prince, Phill Collins to name a few." This is after Kurt kiled himself.
