your production quality seems really good, would just suggest turning the mic gain down, to reduce the peaking, or optionally recording 32bit float which will drastically increase file size but allow you to adjust the audio in post, if not already.

There's an interesting discussion to be had about kinetic flywheel weights. I think it's easy to say lighter is faster recovery so better.. but heavier technically means there is also less deceleration effect as it grabs and transfers it's stored power into the dart. So there is probably an optimal balance point.
@stingernerfАй бұрын
I get what you mean but have a look at the graph where you see the dips in RPM. It barely loses any RPM.
@vornamenachname8001Ай бұрын
the recovery time does not* depend on the flywheel weight, but the startup time from 0 rpm is better with the lighter wheel. a heavier wheel would be good to use if the blaster could not recover the rpm between the shots.
@jasonrouse821512 күн бұрын
@stingernerf This is where we start looking at Mega darts and bigger/ heavier flywheels with adequate motors... you have the potential to make a "NERF Tank" at this point. Or the NERF Howitzer, sounds pretty dope too, and will probs just be a scaling issue more than anything else. Further Modularity might also favour a "heavier" flywheel in favour of being able to handle any loadout, like for example the Mega Darts or even Elite Balls. You've seem to have reached the point where the only way to improve the product, is to just make it more versatile, or make a bigger/ meaner version. Well done.

not boring at all, loved all the explanation!
@AScroobsАй бұрын
You can get rid of the BCAR by putting the flywheels slightly off axis to the path of the dart. I don’t know how well it works with a double flywheel setup, or with concave flywheels, but it’s something that could be looked at.
@Idontevenwanachannel12 күн бұрын
That would significantly increase flywheel mechanism complexity and definitely increase overall width; it's not worth it.
@PlanetMyndАй бұрын
Thank you for this offering. Important note (particularly for us U.S. foam flingers)- it’s a blaster, never a gun. A gun refers to a tool that shoots projectiles using an explosive device (igniting gunpowder). Blasters use air and mechanical work to shoot darts/projectiles.
@CrashTestRC1Ай бұрын
Actually, from someone who is also familiar with the firearm community, I hear people refer to there firearms as blasters, just as much as people in the nerf community. There is no difference between the two.
@KomfortonsetАй бұрын
I worked on a nerf commercial and we had a saftey meeting that was proactively condemning any use of the word “gun.” Blaster was the only way to refer to the product we were shooting.
@ILoveTinfoilHatsАй бұрын
@@CrashTestRC1 that's called "being wrong"
@nosuma6418Ай бұрын
In theory this is a Gun. Because a gun is any device that propels a projectile through a barrel. Its called a firearm if the propulsion force is generated by burning a substance to create expanding gas.
@CrashTestRC1Ай бұрын
This is just Because the left has been trying to paint a negative picture about firearms, and guns in general. Like I said, firearm enthusiast call their guns “blasters” to. And their guns actually have an explosive blast, unlike our nerf guns.

Excellently produced, no surprises here. Though it's not the primary intent, there's enough information here to actually sort of give an accessible look into flywheeler physics and control that's easy to show to an outsider. What capacity does the 6S you used or maybe designed around happen to be?
@stingernerfАй бұрын
It's a 550mah pack from either Ovonic or Gaoneng
@FlygonialАй бұрын
@stingernerf That's actually approaching or exceeding the efficiency on a lot of singled-staged brushed motor blasters. That says a lot about the potential of 6S.

My advice would be to be on a 3d printed website with a community where you can sell digital files, and a Patreon to get early updates & Wips. Also! be careful of not mentioning a brand or patented items (darts) if you are going to sell in larger quantities! I would love that tho! This with premium parts like Carbon Nylon and CNC parts from suppliers like PCBWay would be beautiful!

This isn't really closed loop, for that you'd need a rotary encoder reading physical RPM I'm a bit confused why you need a control loop on top of am32, I would have assumed that it will try to reach the target rpm as fast as possible and hold it as best as possible Really nice blaster, but probably going to be too expensive for me
@RooboticsАй бұрын
But the 'eRPM' is the true RPM for the flywheels? It's pulled from the magnetic Back-EMF from inside the motors as they spin. The only thing not closed loop about it is it doesn't know how much grab it has on the dart or it's relative speed to the motors.
@stingernerfАй бұрын
Yes the point is to both spin up quickly but also matching RPM between motors can greatly increase accuracy. And this also allows the response time to be as short as possible, shooting exactly when motors reach designated RPM
