Thanks for the wonderful video, and a huge thanks for not ruining it with crappy background music. I don't know why some people are compelled to add annoying background music throughout their videos.

Great information. Your video makes me want to try wild nettle. I loved the background sounds, typical Upstate summer.

Hello to you in Pakistan. I am glad that you enjoyed this video, and happy to know it grows where you live. It is very nutritious, and many people make soup with it here in the U.S. and dry it to make a tea.

@@windriderfarm nope I haven’t touched them they’ve just grown a crazy amount in my garden and I’ve been learning all the benefits so I wanted to ask, is it still to have even if they’ve just grown on their own and I’ve not done anything to them?

At what height is the best to harvest, or time of year . I am in South east Mi , Thank you.
@windriderfarm
@windriderfarm 2 жыл бұрын
They can be harvested at any height, but like many other plants, the larger and older the leaf the less tender they become. They can easily reach over 4 feet tall. I dehydrate them to add to many soups, and other dishes, so if the leaves are less tender it is not an issue. If you are cooking them, 12 inches or less is ideal.

Why why doesnt anyone tell you how and when to get the seeds right from the plant so that you can grow your own WHY !!!
@windriderfarm
@windriderfarm Жыл бұрын
It depends on where you live. Here in New York state, the nettle plants will start producing seed clusters from the end of summer into fall. You should wait until they start to turn brown (immature seed clusters are green) and then just get a container and snip off the seed clusters, thoroughly dry them, and store in clean glass jar out of direct sunlight in a cool area.

@@windriderfarm You must 'stratify' the seeds so they will germinate. Place on a moist paper towel on a plate, seal the moisture in (clear wrap), put in fridge for a month or so (that's stratification). Then, take it out and let it sit on your counter (still sealed) for a couple of weeks. You'll see the seeds starting to turn green. Then move outside and plant (I keep mine on the paper towel so as not to disrupt the young roots). Make sure the seedlings are kept moist until firmly rooted.
