Hi! New subscriber from Georgia/U.S. here! I found your channel through the plaintain salve video because I have been learning about it’s medicinal value and I want to use what is growing on our homestead. Now you share nettle soup!!!👍🏻 I am growing nettle for its nutritional value but I didn’t really know how to handle it or how to cook it! Now I do!Thank you so much for sharing! Have a blessed day!😊

This recipe looks great, and I will definitely be giving it a try. 👍 Since childhood I have eaten spring nettle leaves raw when out hiking (the trick is to roll them to crush the white barbs), and sometimes have made nettle tea. The young leaves are tasty, very nutritious and good for you. A friend also gave me a nice nettle pesto once. So I am looking forward to adding your soup to my ‘nettle’ list...

Jonny picks them with naked hands too, I'm way too much of a wuss for that! I hope you love the soup as much as we do, that lemon juice at the end is the cherry on the cake 👌

Hi Jane, yes the blue pot is pretty. * I was told that nettle, root was eatable. Surprised to hear that the leaves can be eatten. I have them growing all over my property, here in Florida. They are a plant that hurts if you touch, it for sure. How long did you cook the soup? I like the Volkswagon, bus, fabric, on the pillow on your seat in the van. As I said before, I'm new to your channel. Do take care. (FL.)

Good morning Jean, the leaves are great and even better because they're free! I cook the soup for a total of about 15 minutes, you can find the full recipe here: hedgecombers.com/nettle-soup/ Do let me know what you think if you give it a go!

I love it! I love foraging and cooking videos! We have Stinging Nettles here in Southern California but I've never tried. The plant also looks a lot like Japanese herb called "Shiso" so I'm always curious about how it tastes like. I love to try out wild plants because a lot of them are something we can't buy from stores we can make special meals with them. Thank you so much for sharing your special recipe!

Hi Jane - early video today usually your a nice surprise when I wake on Saturday morning - love your soup recipe and it sure would be perfect for us as we head into winter camping - I’ll have to do a swap out from the Nettles as I’m not even sure we have them in our part of the world.

@peterolley71593 жыл бұрын
Without potatoes is a criminal offence, I did 2 years in prison when I made it without! Course you can it probably wouldn’t affect the flavour just means your soup won’t be as thick so maybe thicken it with some corn flour or too be honest I wouldn’t bother
