I grew up with X 2 zero and not knowing about Peter Lorre. When I eventually heard Peter Lorre speak I thought "Wow, he sounds just like X 2 zero".

Troy was definitely modeled after James Garner, Sam Shore was Lorne Greene and Surface Agent X-2-Zero was Peter Lorre.
